Will Tea Party, GOP establishment be 'mending fences' to win Senate in November?
Fox News ^ | September 20, 2014

After a long, unapologetic effort to defeat Tea Party candidates in GOP primaries, the Washington establishment will likely need Tea Party voters in November to help swing several tight Senate races and win control of the upper chamber.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee on Friday dismissed the notion that party voters are not united behind their candidates. “Can you point to a race … ? It’s a false narrative,”

Kevin Broughton, spokesman for the Tea Party Patriots singled out a few races, particularly in Kansas and Mississippi, but suggested his troops will rally for the general election.

Broughton said they will focus on such grassroots efforts as get-out-the-vote, instead of buying TV or other media spots.

All six Republican senators who faced promising Tea Party-backed challenges won their primaries, including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who in March boldly predicted he and the rest of the Washington establishment would “crush” far-right advocacy groups and their candidates.

“I don’t think they are going to have a single nominee anywhere in the country,” the five-term Kentucky Republican told The New York Times.

The other wins came in Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Kansas, where the NRSC helped incumbent GOP Sen. Pat Roberts to victory with more than 40,000 phone calls in the final three weeks of his campaign.

In Mississippi, Tea Party-backed candidate Chris McDaniel forced GOP incumbent Sen. Thad Cochran -- who had strong inside-the-beltway financial and grassroots support -- into a runoff to retain his seat.

Politico described the contest as “a flashpoint in the GOP civil war.

The Wall Street/Chamber of Commerce/RINOS FOREVER cult/RNC Big Money donors globalists are able to hold their money cascade until Florida. By then the fractured conservatives are divided between 3 conservative favorites who are each financially exhausted for the contest entering Florida.

The conservative leaders are set for being overwhelmed, under funded and devoured.

Most of them know the winner is the money holder, and they run for a spot on the ticket as VP.

The dirty little secret is that most all run to make the ticket, for the VP spot. They already know that money has already selected the nominee.

IMHO. :)

At this point the conservative wing should negotiate a settlement with the GOPe. They need us to come out strong to secure a majority in the senate.

That is impossible. Conservatives do *not* compromise their principles. ANY Conservative talking head who came out in favor of such a compromise would immediately lose all credibility among Conservatives.

How do you propose to bring the population with us?

Oh ye of little faith... Another Rush Limbaugh 'See, I told you so' moment is needed. We ARE the population.

See, you have to look at this through the rose colored glasses of the ethically flexible.

Words no longer mean things like they used to. They mean whatever the speaker wishes them to mean. Today, a GOPe pol saus he is for strong border defense, low taxes and will fight to repeal Obamacare.

In reality, they sign bills funding Obamacare, raising taxes and ‘reforming’ immigration to allow the border to become an amusement park where all liberal wishes come true.

Those things all happened this week, but there are thousands like them in the last 30 years. Orwell called it ‘holding two diametrically opposed ideas and believing both to be true”. Now George was a smart guy. I don’t philosophise on that level. Simple mountain hick that I am, I have to look at prople supporting that crap and demanding to be called conservative as frauds. My prefered term is Cheshire because in reality, as demonstrated by their mastery of situational ethics, their conservative ideals appear and vanish as needed to forward their agenda.

When they need to rally the troops, they are rock ribbed Reganites. When it comes time to elect the latest RINO, they are walking excuse factories without a shred of integrity or courage of their convictions.

Those are the facts. And they are not able to be twisted, like words, to mean things they do not. When one supports a liberal, they are a liberal. Always. No exceptions. Because conservatives do not vote for liberals.

Because contrary to the ethically flexable among us, words DO in fact, mean things.

That isn’t the problem, the problem is a lot of “us” are doing what you say we can’t get others to do. We need to stop voting for them, period. Step 2 comes after step 1.

I'm talking about authorizing power amendments, such as term limits or repealing the 17th amendment. One cannot easily ignore those Article V outcomes without threatening the entire Constitutional construct.

Part of the discussion has to be the expectation that the tyrannical oligarchy we seek to restrain and limit, WILL make attempts to do just that and claim that they are acting within legality while you and I are acting from a 'destructive'/'disruptive' mindset.

If that discussion is not going to take place, and everyone is going to assume that the power in Washington is simply bloated and NOT a tyranny - then there is no point in attempting an Article V convention because the proponents are not serious and/or ignorant about what the Establishment Oligarchy is likely capable of.

Again, I'm proceeding from the historical fact and precedent that you cannot limit a usurping and tyrannical Oligarchy via civil means.

I think a frank discussion about what the plan will be if this 'last attempt' to rein -in an out of control federal leviathan by civil means is thwarted and blocked.

“Obviously we would both choose a principled conservative if we had that option. “

Can’t let this slide either.

No you wouldn’t. You didn’t. The very utterance and posting of your philosophy eliminates voting for one. Nearly every RINO has someone running against them more conservative. And the astronomically rare one that does not still has a ballot with a write in.

Your fellows have had 39ish years to prove you’d vote for the more conservative candidate, yet here we are with the most liberal congress to ever pollute the GOP. You wanna explain how that happened considering almost all of them had a more conservative opponent in the primary and/or the general?

Are we to believe that in 30 years, no conservatives ran?

No. What happened was situational ethics reared its head and conservative principles got kicked in the face so a bunch of closeted democrats could WIN!!!! for the sake of winning. Not win to make a positive difference. No, just to claim bragging rights.

You and yours had a number of far more conservative candidates on the primary ballots than Mitt Romney. And they were on those ballots in the 50 American states and likely the 7 more Barry added. Unsurprising the “I’m conservative...really!” crew didn’t vote for them. they voted for Mitt “Less conservative than Obama” Romney (Even Barry opposed homo marriage once...Mitt never did).

So that’s an outright lie. You didn’t. Mitt lost as we said he would. Instead of a conservative, the Cheshires pushed a liberal in the primaries, got him and lost.

Now if I am mistaken, please tell me how your statement holds true when actual conservatives stayed true to principle? How did Mitt end up a candidate?

Because contrary to the ethically flexable among us, words DO in fact, mean things.

Yes, they do, and more importantly, so do actions. It is the unfortunate condition of your 'Cheshires' that Conservatives watch, deliberate, and have exceedingly long memories.

And wherein those appeasers use catch phrases to promise the world, and don the Conservative mantle like an old coat, to Conservatives, principle is a way-of-life - And every last one of them knows when the line has been crossed.

I find it hilarious every election year, to see those who think they are stalwarts pull out all the stops: wheedling and cajoling, insulting and cursing, trying to get that which is erudite and wholly immovable to move - not merely an inch or two, but MILES. LOL! It would be funny if it were not so very pathetic!

Soon enough they will be at the voting trough, in their soggy pants, pulling for the big, rhinestone 'R', thinking that they are the solution, when all along, they are the problem!

Thanks Norm, you and your FRiends, for taking the time to school yet another generation of crybaby milksops! You guys are aces! I just flat ran out of patience for it.

Oh believe me, my patience is gone. I had a month off in self imposed exile and just couldn’t hack letting the stupid go. But trust me, I feel your pain.

Few of us are willing to engage these idiots and those that do get burnt after a while. We all need to unite and tell them all to STFU and go to hell. Their crap is just the same crap rehashed year to year. It’s not even new. Not one can do anything but spin like dems and as you said, actions speak louder than words.

If people want conservatism to win, they need to get off their asses and fight the crap every time. Every person. No exceptions, no excuses. And that fight starts at home.

If we are to cowardly to fight it here, we are too cowardly to fight it out ‘there’. Bottom line. When the best they got is to rehash and post pix of Yosemitie Sam on a dragon as political rebuttal, that should be our first clue that we are dealing with frauds.

This sums it all up. The only good RINO is an unelected RINO. RNC: Go ahead and try winning with the productive portion of your team on the sidelines. We will work as hard for you as you work for Conservatives.

Home school children wherever possible. Someone has to lead the next generation and it may as well be our kids. Can't homeschool them? Send them to parent-controlled academies with sound curricula. Resist government skewel spending. We do not need to fund football, basketball, marching bands, junior years in Europe (some CT schools do that one at taxpayer expense), expensive social events and expensive extracurricular programs out the wazoo. We DO need educational attainment and excellence in Mathematics, Sciences, Literature, Grammar, Modern Languages, Latin and Greek, History, Great Books, Classical Literature, Shakespeare, O. Henry and Saki, Vergil and Xenophon and Cicero and Homer, Theology (whatever flavor you prefer) and Morality. This was done in Jesuit prep schools in the recent past (fifty years ago) and it is do-able now. The graduates will OWN their government schooled academic contemporaries. REMOVE each and every child from government schooling (other than the one where verga teaches in rural Virginia). Arrange substitute activities to make up for loss of extracurriculars. Have the kids compete with all kids in Academic Bowl type competitions and dominate.

Bravo Mr. Elk, I believe you have stumbled onto the beginnings of the correct solution.

We also need to work together in making inroads into the Internet, the media, the educational system, local governments. We need to target our resources to support those who support us. We need to make efforts to revive conservative morals and principles through websites such as FR, and where ever we can get the word out.

If Marxists are like Muslims, then the GOPe are like Herod during the time of Christ. Not only are these RINOs cowards; they are dogs gorging on the flesh of our countrymen. Herod’s end was well documented, and those who follow in his footsteps will share his inheritance.

You can talk all you want about the next election or the magic ratio when the stalwart GOPe shall lead the country to the promised land. I’ve heard the same story for 30+ years. Compromise here!  Moderate there! Celebrate mediocrity! Revel in failure! Salvation is at hand! Watch the show!

Please tell me of one instance in all of history, where those who were complicit with the enemy rose up to institute a legitimate regime. It’s time to speak the truth in love. I love this country and I hate the GOPe as it is now constituted. They are not the enemy, they are the kapos keeping the rest of the victims in line.

Then you might as well abolish everything in the Constitution except Article II, and then call it Constitutional because the elites have deemed it so and dared the rest of us to do something about it.

Because you're basically saying they will effectively ignore Article V and dare us to do something about it.

How the hell do you pretend to know who I would support. Last election I started supporting Gingrich. After he dropped out I went with Perry. When I got to the general I supported Romney. You may feel good about writing in a name, but you are just wasting your time. There is a reason their name is not on the ballot.

I agree with that. The GOPe leaders we now have are corrupted by the government, lobbyists, media, unions, everybody has a piece of them.

However, the GOP grassroots are the real GOP. We have to get rid of the politicians that have been corrupted and bring in ones that are more in line with the people they are supposed to represent.

Rather than go third party, it would seem easier to reform the existing party which in reality belongs to the grassroots not to the crooked people who have been in Washington for too long.

Why can't we just reclaim our party. We have to overthrow McConnell and company.

Kudos on Newt but one out of 3 ain’t good.. Then you went with two hard rinos. Rick LaRaza Perry, he of the force guardasil on people/ineffective smart fence and crony payday architect known as the Trans Texas Corridor...who thinks Hillary! was a great SOS. then The uberlib. So tell me I was wrong. There were other choices on that ballot and instead of standing on principle, you went with the furthest left Republican in history to “Win”. You said it yourself. You consider it a wasted vote.

Your words. Live by them. Thats how the hell I can say it. Because I’m right and you admitted it. You threw the towel in and voted lib and are fully intent on doing it again with the next GOPe Rino correct? You will vote RINO when the GOP runs one, am I correct? Because winning, regardless of what with, is what you want just as long as you win.

If you wanted a conservative, you’d vote for one.

You are obviously ignorant, perhaps willfully so of what the Ruling Class just last week has done to make sure a grassroots takeover of the GOP will never happen.

I submit you have acute cognitive dissonance and a fatal case of Normalcy Bias.

I have worked in the GOP from the streets to state delegate. I was there when George was crowned and Rove was kingmaker. He was a bastard then, and his ilk have infiltrated every part of the party. The cancer has spread so far that I’m not sure the patient can survive. Either way, there is a lot of pain involved and the party is dead in all but name.

The have accused us conservatives of abandoning their pathetic candidates forever, but they are going to see what it looks like when we actually do. We were the only dumb asses that voted again and again for the lying, miserable, conniving, amoral hacks that they ran despite all our misgivings and ultimately, our principles.

I don’t know that the party will care. Those in charge are truly content to live off of the blood of our country’s soul. They have no principle, no morals. Unless we wrest the party back, there is no party.

But thinking that the base runs the party is beyond naive. This party is run by the same big money, big politics, big government consortium as the Democrats. They are evil and they have shown their true colors. It will be a bloody fight and it won’t be confined to the ballot box.

I will never vote for another RINO as long as I live and I will not work for the party in any capacity until they return to the founding principles.
