Moslems deny any power of the people to legislate or elect legislators. No human has any power to make law. Sharia Law was dictated by Allah (Satan), and is the only possible law.

What’s happening in Iraq today is merely a continuation of the failure of democracy. And a failure of the United States to understand the psyche of Iraqis.
That's a telling statement. The fact is, some people have an innate desire 'to be led'.
Furthermore, the linked article irks me: Had the colonists (US) shown as much cowardice as the Iraqis that abandoned their country and continue to 'give up', this would be a much different conversation.
