A college bud of mine got booted and had a similar experience. Only he was a mechanical engineer and figured out the tools he needed to take the thing apart. That's exactly what he did and set the pieces on a nearby curb.
I don’t think it had ever been tried before (tire-boots were relatively new at the time) so they were incredulous when I approached them. They didn’t believe me and demanded that I repeat my story three times, each time asking, “And you want WHAT?!”
They did try to get me to reveal my name (I was foolish as a kid but not stupid!) and after ten or fifteen minutes I got bored and hung up on them. I took the boot out onto Lake Washington and dropped it where it was over 100’ deep.
I’ve made it a point never to park in Joe Diamond lots ever since.
