merican airstrikes against ISIS targets are under way in Syria, according to a Pentagon official.
"I can confirm that U.S. military and partner nation forces are undertaking military action against ISIL [ISIS] terrorists in Syria using a mix of fighter, bomber and Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles," Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Admiral John Kirby said.
"Given that these operations are ongoing, we are not in a position to provide additional details at this time. The decision to conduct theses strikes was made earlier today by the U.S. Central Command commander under authorization granted him by the commander in chief. We will provide more details later as operationally appropriate."

What did Syria do to us? What did the Islamic state do to us?I’m lost. We had a couple of “ journalists” ( I suspect intelligence agents) stick their head in a hornets nest and lose their life. We are suppose to go kill children and women (all of Islamic State forces and equipment are now in highly populated areas)by bombing with billions spent for nothing ( like Iraq and Libya) ? Several months ago we never heard of ISIS. Now the media fills up 12 hours of their broadcast day telling us how evil they are, and even gives them free advertising and air time by publishing what they want us to believe and their studio videos. Who benefits? Americans?
The same media that always hypes the need for more gun control at every opportunity, and tells us how illegal invaders from the south are just looking for opportunity, and will be an asset to our economy, and at request of the GOP and DNC have told us for 5 years that the Tea Party is racist and conspiratorial. Now they are presenting ISIS as a threat in overdrive.
Sorry I’m cynical and don’t believe the media because their agenda is rarely America’s agenda.

We are engaged with ISIS on behalf of and at the invitation of Iraq.
As such, we are able to strike ISIS in Syria as justified by the concept of "hot pursuit". Similarly, we were acting within our rights to pursue the Viet Cong into Cambodia and Laos during the Viet Nam war.
Which is to say there is nothing questionable under international law here.

Legal. Congress authorized the President to attack ISIS. Their bases in Syria are covered under the international law concept of "hot pursuit".
