NEW YORK (AP) -- Health officials are investigating nine cases of muscle weakness or paralysis in Colorado children and whether the culprit might be a virus causing severe respiratory illness across the country.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday sent doctors an alert about the polio-like cases and said the germ - enterovirus 68 - was detected in four out of eight of the sick children who had a certain medical test. The status of the ninth case is unclear.
The virus can cause paralysis but other germs can, too. Health officials don't know whether the virus caused any of the children's arm and leg weaknesses or whether it's just a germ they coincidentally picked up

Had another coworker who works with kids (softball team) who is really sick with cold/flu symptoms...

Actually, one of the worst groups for spreading children’s viral diseases is the mostly white upper middle class, because they’ve stopped having their children vaccinated against anything because they read too much “Mother Earth” stuff and thought vaccines were interfering with their organic health...so now the highest rates of whooping cough and just about any other viral disease (soon to be polio, I bet) are among upper middle class whites.
When I lived in California, the biggest problem with head lice didn’t come from Mexicans, but from well-off white wanna-be-hippies.
So I think there should be an analysis of the populations involved to see how the virus spreads. It’s also possible that, if it’s a serious problem and not just a few days of stomach upset, they could modify a vaccine to deal with it, since I’m sure it’s related to things against which there might already be a vaccine.
There are a lot of Evangelicals who won’t let their children get vaccinated, btw, and that should stop or we’re going to have all sorts of outbreaks of strange diseases.

No, having a little “undocumented immigrant” “mania”, and the majority of those “undocumented immigrants” just happen to be Hispanic, right? It’s only been a couple of months ago, so i know you remember.
And none of them have been vetted for disease (or anything else), and the children are not being required to show vaccination records to go to public schools (unlike the children of legal Americans).
So it doesn’t amount to a “mania” to think these children might well be Hispanic.
I’d be interested in seeing some documentation for your assertions..
Clearly the solution is to elect more RINOs who are pro illegal to stand up and stop the madness! I mean it goes without saying that if we don’t elect more Obama empowering Republican RINOs, Obama empowering Democrats will win!
And winning is the only thing that matters. Sure, they do the exact same thing RE: Illegals and a host of other topics, but by George, if we WIN! we can feel good about it being our ‘own’ slitting our throats.
They should certainly be vaccinated, I have no problem with doing this. Vaccinate them and send them home, with a sandwich and a teddy bear, no problem.
