Here's the question of the day: Does GDP stand for Gross Domestic Product or Grossly Distorted Procedures?
One of the reasons I ask is the latest push by countries to include prostitution and drugs sales in GDP calculations.

Liberals the control the US government create their own numbers. They make them look better than they are when they have a demo as president and worse than they are when a republican is in office. It’s not very complicated.
The numbers are almost totally meaningless now.

Some very smart (but honest) people claim the GDP /economy has been going negative for the last 10 years

If you want to promote less of an activity, tax it.
Make those criminals report their illegal income on a new line item on their IRS FORM 1040.
Presto. Less crime and more tax revenue. A true win win situation.
I love that one, we buy the house in one lump sum which helps that year’s numbers. The we maintain, improve, pay taxes, etc over the time we live in the house. What bothers the Libs is that this is on the average a once is seven year deal. They need fake numbers now, not next year.
They are sensationalistic too. Lower unemployment numbers were an awful sin for GOP but not for Democrats, same for National Debt.
U.S. economy to ‘grow’ 3% under new GDP calculation
In July of 2013, the U.S. gross domestic product will officially grow three percent, due to a few additions to the statistics that economists have been using to calculate GDP for years.
From now on, government statisticians will take into account money earned from creative works including movies, television shows, books, theater and music. Money spent on research and development, which has, until now, been considered a cost of doing business will also be included.

Tax prostitution? I works well for food servers doesn’t it? Most still don’t declare tips, or only do so when paid by credit card, (ie... when they have to.)
ALMOST?
The only one I give credence to is the one yesterday that in fact says 25% of Americans of prime working age are presently unemployed. That seems closer to what I actually see around me.
