Well put and congratulations. I lived in a recovery house after treatment it took a long time to be able to function without the alcohol again but it was worth making getting sober the top priority. :)
Good for you! You know what else I did once I kicked it was start exercising again and holy God, the difference between being in that state from booze and being in top shape physically was like being in a coma to being God, there’s no other way to describe it. All the senses I had when I was a kid returned, it’s amazing how much of the brain goes into shut down mode when you booze and are out of shape. Once I got into shape by exercising again, WHOA! Everything improves 1000 fold from smell, to sight to hearing. Like living in black and white and suddenly living in color. The worst part of alcoholism is the time is wasted. I figure I wasted 30 years, just living in a coma all that time and then realizing it, that was the worst out of all but at least I’m alive.
