Should have taken the hint in 1973, the Arab is not our friend.
In the current war it would make good sense to simply take over Quatar and make the entire place a US military base funded by royalties from all that NatGas. If it were done suddenly and completely it would give the jihadists pause. When they ramp up their bad acting then a takeover of the Emirates would be the next installment. Et Cetera. It would be an example for the Sauds to take note of. The Sauds are the center of evil in the ME, even more so than the Iranians. They fund the Sunni Jihadists. Iran funds the Shiites of which there are far fewer. Iran would also take notice were the USA to take these steps toward colonizing the hydrocarbons in the ME. A couple of short but heavy bombing raids on the Iranian military and oilfields would help.
