I don’t care one bit about Obama’s father.

Washington/Jefferson/Adams/Franklin/Madison/Hamilton/Monroe/Paine were all “anti colonialists” whose rage derived from a hatred of British colonialism. So was freakin Ghandi

The fact that conservatives actually buy the nonsense that D’Souza is selling is baffling, especially this completely un American concept that has no intellectual basis.

“The fact that conservatives actually buy the nonsense that D’Souza is selling is baffling, especially this completely un American concept that has no intellectual basis.”

The fact is that whether or not any of us “buy” D’Souza’s ideas has absolutely nothing to do with the reality that he has been targeted by this administration, unjustly prosecuted and is for all intents and purposes a political prisoner of the USA.

Having said that I watched “2016:Obama’s America” and have heard Dinesh interviewed numerous times, and to say the least I don’t have the same impression of his views that you do.

This sucks, but right now at some level D’Souza has to be thanking the government for helping him by giving him the material to make his next documentary.

The reason is simple: you don't understand his thesis, and conservatives do.

The Founding Fathers weren’t anti-colonial: they were colonists. For all that they rebelled against the British, they formed a very successful colony.

Ghandi - and Obama’s mau-mau ancestors - on the other hand - were anti-colonists. They were natives in the land being colonized - and were part of the subset of colonized who didn’t do well under the colonization.

Given Ghandi’s wretched socialist legacy, not to mention Kenya’s increasingly barbarous post-colonial history, the colonizers obviously added a great deal to the country they colonized.

The Founding Fathers certainly added a vast amount to the land they colonized. Why would you suppose they were anti-colonial?

The founding fathers for the most part were born in America (except for Hamilton who was born on a Carribean island) and thus were colonized.

The Boston Tea Party was one of the most anti colonialist events in history. The American Revolution was over throwing a colonialist over lord (just read Paine’s Common Sense!)

Again, the concept is just stupid and D’Souza is an imbecile. The fact that he is Anti American while at it just adds to it

He gave $20,000 more than “allowed” to a woman who was running for political office. A woman he knew in college in the early 1980’s. The woman didn’t even know the donation was from Dinesh.

Meanwhile, a true scumbag like Lois Lerner is free as a bird.

“Again, the concept is just stupid and D’Souza is an imbecile. The fact that he is Anti American while at it just adds to it.”

What I go from “2016” was that D’Souza considered Obama to have been profoundly influenced by anti-colonial views while growing up and that this influence explains Obama’s tendency to want to diminish the power and influence of the United States. D’Souza’s arguments were well reasoned and compelling.

I dispute the term the use of the term “imbecile” in this discussion, at least with regards to D’Souza.

So you think the United States wasn't a colony, just because the people who made that colony independent were born there?

America is a colony because thousands of Europeans came across from Europe and colonized North America. The colony of America wasn't itself being colonized by the British - it was the colony.

Look up "North American Indians". This will astonish you, but it turns out that there were a fair number of people who inhabited North America before the colonists turned up.

They were colonized. And - just like the Mau Mau, and just like Ghandi, a lot of them resented it.

Now that Hussein and his regime have gotten away with this, he will be sending his gestapo (Homeland inSecurity - Holder's boys) to round us up for intensive re-education.

Say, who here has:

doubted globull warming?
belittled 0bamacare?
spoken out against his majesty caliph Hussein 0bama and his regime?
owns a gun or defends the Second Amendment, hell, supports The Constitution?
etc...

See you at the gulag!

The Boston Tea Party was one of the most anti colonialist events in history.

No. It was a protest against tax.

If it had been the most anti-colonial event in history, then the Bostonians would have given the land back to the Moswetuset, got back in their boats and returned to Europe.

If I was sent to a re-education camp, they’d have to kill me to shut me up. It would be camp chaos.

We need a jpeg/script of a table rotating as hopefully, D’Souza can turn the tables on them.

D’Souza should refuse to cooperate, even if it means hard time. I know its hard to advise someone to martyr himself. But the idea that he must undergo therapy for a legal or political disagreement is offensive.

He obviously has to go where he is sent. But he doesn’t have to play ball.

He should right a book on his experiences while in the “re-education” camp. It would be interesting.

Yep.

It will be an absolute textbook example of mind control.

The wanna-be communists only think they hate him now.

When this thing hits the screen the "liberal and progressive" communists will be beyond enraged.

The semantics being used to defend an intellectual nit wit (D’Souza) are amusing.

So the Americans weren’t colonists serving their colonial masters in London?

Only to pre Revolution America the British Empire wasn’t an Imperial Empire?

Its utter foolishness

Obama has been using the same liberal playbook every liberal has since Wilson.

If Hillary had become President, the policies would have been the *exact* same. Not because of some stupid anti colonial view, but because of the stupidity of liberalism and their awful policies in America.

Obama was successfully able to do what Bill wasn’t with both regards to health care and our international standing

There is 0 logic in D’Souza’s thesis.
