In defense of the SS agents, the designated protected people were not there only an empty house so the force protection vigilance decreases.
I’m sure every square inch of the WH would’ve been swept for explosives after this intruder was discovered, but it’s conceivable that even though the inhabitants weren’t there at the moment, it doesn’t mean something could not have happened at a later time when they were.
