Northeast loses 40% of House seats as people flee high-tax states
Washington Examiner ^ | Sept. 30,2014 | Paul Bedard

The Northeast, once the nation’s political engine that produced presidents, House speakers and Senate giants including the late Edward M. Kennedy, is losing clout in Washington as citizens flee the high-tax region, according to experts worried about the trend.

The Census Bureau reports that population growth has shifted to the South and the result is that the 11 states that make up the Northeast are being bled dry of representation in Washington.

Critics blame rising taxes in states such as Massachusetts and Connecticut for limiting population growth in the Northeast to just 15 percent from 1983 to 2013, while the rest of the nation grew more than 41 percent.

This result is one of the most dramatic demographic shifts in American history. This migration is shifting the power center of America right before our very eyes. The movement isn’t random or even about weather or resources. Economic freedom is the magnet and states ignore this force at their own peril,” said the report.

While the states from Pennsylvania to Maine had 141 House members in 1950, they are down to 85 today, a drop of some 40 percent.

Exactly. When they get to a free state, for some reason they’re allowed to vote.

these disgusting locusts have ruined their old state and then they move to the south and Midwest only to ruin their new state.

Parasites the lot of them , and yes we have a family who moved here form NY who cheat on their welfare, girls are noting but trouble makers in the neighborhood, and the house they have rented has turned into a pigsty .

I’d love it if the north east got their act together so these locusts can move back away from us here.

Good. I live in Connecticut. It used to be a decent place to live but now I feel like a perpetual blood donor paying these taxes. We’re moving to VA in three years but somebody has to explain how Terry McAuliffe got elected there. It’s not how I vote.

I find their lack of patriotism apaling! Don’t they know how patriotic it is to give government money to help build trandgender armies and teach bondage to grade schoolers?

#/4 of the check to govt., $100 a month to the Cable/Dish/MSM. That’s what it means to be a Real American

I actually think that many of the liberals fleeing high tax states don’t realize that many of the pathologies they are fleeing are due to high taxes and bigger government.

I tell any acquaintances I run into from any of my former northeastern state residences that in my new state everyone has a rifle in one hand, a bible in the other, and a large beard flowing sideways in the wind.

The people may be fleeing the Northeast, but it’s the employers who are fleeing first.

he was elected the same way democrats get elected anywhere. They suppress the opposition vote using media lapdogs they feed with false narratives and they scare each minority group with stories of fewer benefits and offer more free stuff.
In VA, all the dems had to do is use the media to downplay the election and pump up the voting blocks in the high population areas like NoVa, Richmond and Tidewater because the rest of the state doesn’t matter from an electoral standpoint. Too many crybaby republicans stayed home because of some technicality in the nomination process and a total lack of financial support from the national GOP hurt. Even after that, they almost pulled it off. VA is a microcosm of the country IMO, we have an unpopular leader acting in defiance of the will of the people and a legislative branch (practically split)with not enough power or leadership to kick him out. The lower chamber is dominated by the republicans and the upper chamber is split and the judiciary is littered with leftists who forward the agenda whenever possible. With the exception of maybe a governorship, I don’t see it changing much.
We now have a financial situation that will only grow worse and our suburbs and schools are being seeded with illegals that Obama is looking to legalize.

Virginia has been flooded with Fed workers- who, naturally, love government dollars.

the Federal employee bubble will burst here soon though.

The super rich are happy about the depopulation. They buy their representation from from people like McConnell who couldn’t care less about his alleged Commonwealth.

In NYC real estate tax is based not on the type, area, or value of the building, but on the GROSS RENTAL INCOME from the property.
