Dallas Paramedic: We Weren’t Contacted After Working in Ebola Exposed Ambulance
Breitbart ^ | 10-02-2014 | Bob Price

HOUSTON, Texas -- A Dallas paramedic claimed he drove the ambulance that the US Ebola patient was transported in and that he was not contacted by anyone about the potential exposure. He claims he drove the ambulance sometime after the patient was transported. The Dallas Fire Department left the ambulance that transported Ebola patient Thomas Duncan to the hospital in service for at least 48 hours before putting it in quarantine on Wednesday. The ambulance was exposed to the Ebola virus when Duncan was transported on September 28th. “All the people in the back of the ambulance 48 hours later before they finally took the ambulance out of service,” said Dallas Paramedic Geoffrey Aklinski in a discussion on Facebook, “none of them have been contacted. None of the paramedics that were on that shift and went in the ambulance were contacted. I’ve been off three days now. No one contacted me and I was in and drove that ambulance after it was infected.”

“That’s some hazmat suits those guys have on there! /s

Every time I fire up my pressure washer, I am soaked to the skin by the time I am done.

We have to hope the virus was quite dead by the time this guy started splattering it everywhere including on himself.

Thanks for that input. I know they dispose of the obvious bio-hazards in between runs (gloves, tubes, syringes, etc), but they had no idea what the vomit and fluids contained and I am wondering if their time between calls, esp. if short handed or there is a lot of need at the time, would stymie a thorough decontamination?

Some pressure washers can inject cleaning fluid into the water stream. That looks like a cheap pressure washer from Walmart, and no large additional chem tank attached. You are probably right.

I hear you and understand. However the “nothing to worry about chicken little” crowd will be here soon ridiculing your “panic”.

All this “don’t worry/be happy” talk reminds me of 9/11 when folks on the flights (other than Flight #93) did as they’d been told: sit there, don’t fight back, we’ve got you covered. When workers in the Twin Towers called 911, the emergency folks told them to stay where they were, not to evacuate, not to worry, NYFD was on the way! All this well-meaning horse-doo is killing people.

5% of those exposed get infected.

Some of the 100 being tracked are secondary, so their chances are 5% of 5% or 1 in 400 using your number. But 5% is an average could be more could be less.

Sure looks like a “non-professional use” washer. My hose nozzle might put out more force than that.

That sounds about right from the Patrick Sawyer scenario.

IIRC there were roughly 200 contacts they were initially monitoring and of those between 5 and 10% later developed symptoms.

Can’t believe how poorly this appears to be handled. I guess it’s been so long since we have quarantined for diseases, that we no longer know how.

I still remember when people had to leave their homes and go to TB Sanitariums(just barely).

Who really knows if this guy did tell them he’d been in Liberia or that is some cover BS?

We don't. What we do know is that among Democrats, each and every one hell-bent on being king of the world, they end up under-estimating the power of stupidity. Hubris is everywhere.

yep and sadly in the Obamaland Times, we aren’t sure what is satire and what isn’t. I have never seen anything like this bunch in my years of living.

yep. My great grandfather died of TB. In his front yard IIRC. I assume that Leprosy will be making a comeback in the Obamatimes?
