CDC chief on Ebola: We can’t shut the border
Politico ^ | 10/3/2014 | Jonathan Topaz

Tom Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, on Friday said restricting travel between the U.S. and West Africa would likely “backfire” and put Americans more at risk of contracting Ebola.

Appearing on MSNBC, Frieden was asked about potentially prohibiting air travel between the U.S. and West Africa, where the Ebola outbreak is most widespread. He said that such a restriction would likely be ineffective and would make it harder for health officials to root out the virus.

“The only way we’re going to get to zero risk is by stopping the outbreak at the source” in West Africa, Frieden said.

“Even if we tried to close the border, it wouldn’t work,” the top health official added. “People have a right to return. People transiting through could come in. And it would backfire, because by isolating these countries, it’ll make it harder to help them, it will spread more there and we’d be more likely to be exposed here.”

Frieden’s comments come as health officials continue to screen up to 100 people in Texas in connection with Liberian national Thomas Eric Duncan, who is in isolation at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. Duncan flew to the U.S. on Sept. 19, but the CDC said that he was screened before his flight in Monrovia and showed no symptoms of Ebola. Health officials say his temperature was 97.3 degrees and that he was not contagious on the flight, meaning his fellow passengers were not at risk.

While in Liberia, Duncan had contact with a woman who had the virus and helped carry her from a taxi, according to The New York Times.

On Friday, Frieden said airport screenings are reducing risks. “There are a lot of checks in place. It’s not perfect,” he said.

In several interviews and at a Thursday news briefing, the CDC director has expressed confidence that health officials will be able to contain the spread of the virus in the U.S.

On Thursday evening, NBC announced that a freelance journalist working for the network in Liberia had contracted Ebola and quarantined himself on Wednesday.

How ironic that the new season of the “WALKING DEAD” is about to start. It is just a matter of time before this virus goes global. Soon massive population centers in China, India, Indonesia, South America, Central America, and yes, the US will have uncontrolled outbreaks.

As soon as the CDC said there was nothing to worry about I KNEW it was time to worry.

Politics

The talking points have been issued. For reasons only known to our elite rulers, our nations borders have been opened to all.

I take some satisfaction in knowing that nothing goes the way it was planned, and what ever plan these people have for us will not turn out the way they expect.

I can not predict the future other than to say it is not going to be pretty when the blowback occurs.

What does all that twaddle have to do with allowing the Ebloa-infected Duncan into the USA?

He was not a returning medical worker etc.

"Tom Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, on Friday said restricting travel between the U.S. and West Africa would likely “backfire” and put Americans more at risk of contracting Ebola. "

Fire his ass, right now.

If the guy in a position to fire him won't fire him, fire his ass now. Right now. If people get their racist panties in a wad that's TFB.

People are going to die over this if it isn't gotten under control like right now. Actually like a month ago would have been better but right now is what we have.

IF THIS GETS OUT OF CONTROL AND PEOPLE'S FAMILIES START DYING, WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN IS GOING TO MAKE A LITTLE ETHNIC VIOLENCE OVER SOME @$$#0LE LOSING HIS JOB LOOK LIKE A BASEBALL GAME.

(Maybe that's what they want... "gee, it sure is too bad we can't have those elections with all this mayhem going on...")

This nonsense is coming from the top. Obama and his henchmen want to bring infectious disease into this country. It will help get rid of undesirables such as the elderly, the infirm and those evil white conservatives. All are a drain on resources and those conservatives are the enemy of the state.

Hitler used gas chambers to get rid of undesirables. Obama and company just has to bring in a deadly disease. They can kill off thousands without having to spend money on other means of extermination.

CDD (Center for Disease Disbursement) appears to be involved in CPC (Center for Population Control).

Disease “control” would start with controlling it in a geographical location.

DISMANTLE the CDC.

the only part i’d agree with is that people would still travel to another country before they take a flight into USA.

everything else is BS! make no mistake, if Israel was hit with ebola, the government here would start asking for direct flights to be shut off.

Obama will make sure the Ebola patients are treated in hospitals in predominantly white communities with minimal protection.

According to NPR this morning, he transported an ebola stricken relative in a wheelbarrow.

Obama is succeeding in turning the US economically into a third world country, has decimated the greatest health care system in the world and now is allowing third world diseases to enter without any restrictions. Soon we may be standing in line for filthy hospital beds just like in Liberia.

“According to NPR this morning, he transported an ebola stricken relative in a wheelbarrow.:

The story literally changes with each telling. We are dealing with pathological liers, and that includes those exposed in the hot zones, the CDC, the WHO, and the 0bama administration. Don’t forget Bill Gates either, his investments in treatment and vaccines for this is huge, and he stands to reap huge rewards. As always, follow the money.
