I would like to know how they can clean & decontaminate things like upholstery, without destroying it?

we had to decon our house a year ago. We used a bleach solution for all the hard surfaces and lysol for the fabric upholstery. (Of course, anything that could go in the washer did) A UV sterilizing light also works.
