The trouble is that the normal person has NO WAY of knowing whether the people they’ve been in contact with were in Africa recently. Ebola starts out like flu; the way to know whether to look more deeply is by the possible connection to somebody who was contaminated. But we have no way of knowing that - and it will be harder and harder as we get more and more illegals here and more and more people exposed to those who HAVE been to west Africa.

It’s looking like the woman who housed Duncan in Dallas lived in Ecuador, according to her FB page. She was in Liberia Aug 10-11th. Now she lives in Dallas and is apparently the “relative” that Duncan was able to get a visa to come visit (though they are not relatives but apparently “partners”). Did she come in the last round of illegals that Holder and Obama held the door open for? How many others like her are there in this country as of now?

This stuff passes in sweat, spit, etc. You touch the same door handle as somebody who has the virus and then wipe your eye before sanitizing your hands with clorox or alcohol, and you can get it.

Yes, people can make up stories about being in Africa and I get your point, but the truth is that none of us knows what connection we have to Africa at this point. Soon EVERY case of flu will require testing for ebola. And the bad thing is that when symptoms first show up false negative results for ebola are very possible - leading to more people who are exposed and don’t even know it.

It was criminal for the regime to let it come to this.

I was sitting here all comfy that I'm pretty far away from the madness for now. But wait. Of all crazy things, last week on the way home from a teaching assignment, my daughter stopped at an African grocery across the river and bought some junk she couldn't afford.

When she brought it here, I was cross and told her to take that stuff out of here but she left 2 pkgs of cookies, rectangular, scalloped edges, arrowroot taste. Well, in the course of days, I get hungry for something sweet that I can chew or dissolve and ate them all lol.

But my point is that I guess we don't have to worry too much about surfaces after a certain period of time but who knows in that little neighborhood, who has come from West Africa recently, shops at store, etc., etc.

I love ethnic groceries but would choose ME or Asian over African.

Just some anecdotal material and to show that maybe we are closer to some things than we think.
