I’ve worked with people from the region of Liberia but not in Liberia.
Lying is a way of life with them. When you catch them or they think you will they are like cockroaches running to hide in the corners. The only fun I had some days over there was to catch them doing something wrong and then act like I didn’t see them until they thought they were going to get away with it... then calmly walk down the hall, making direct eye contact, wait until I got within arm’s reach, stop, remain silent for a bit, watch them squirm and their eyes get big the say, what are y’all doing now? The answer was invariably, “nothing”. I’d just say, “humph” and stand there.... they would evaporate.
One day they saw me in the area and six of them hid in a closet... they thought they had escaped until I opened the door and asked them what they were all doing in there?
....”Lying is a way of life with them”...
Pretty much how it is in 3rd world countries......we forget their entire way of life has nothing at all to do with how we see life. They don’t think that way.
Although the video of his mother speaking to him , she does mention to him that “God will find a way”....so perhaps he will.
