A Georgia man was killed by police executing a search warrant obtained after a car thief told police he stole methamphetamine from the dead man’s vehicle, media reports say.

...snip...

The homeowner, David Hooks, a 59-year-old grandfather and businessman, reported the missing SUV.

...snip...

An hour after getting the search warrant, Shook said David Hooks’ wife saw camouflaged men in her yard with guns and told her husband.

David Hooks’ final act was to arm himself with a shotgun.

...snip...

Police searched the home for 44 hours and found no drugs.

Exactly, these raids should be very very rare. There is no reason you can’t watch and wait for a good time to nab the perp outside in the vast majority of cases.

That would be part of the reason why there is no need. It doesn’t take much to figure out the plumbing from a house to the sewage pipeline and have something to filter out the non-essentials.

Brewer said a suspect claimed he had been supplying "multiple ounces"

What suspect?

Are they referring to the thief who allegedly stole a whole 20 grams from Hooks?

I agree with him. It doesn’t take much to line up the ducks in a to to ensure they are going after the tea target and to ensure, based on past patterns, that doing this will net more than a dime baggy of something.

I am not familiar with the case except for the details contained within this anti police article. It looks like there was a warrant for the search. Also, the constitution does not mandate a knock on the door to accompany the warrant, so I don’t know why a no knock entry complaint was relevant. Moral of the story: when cops have warrant for your house search, you cannot brandish weapons. Well, you can, but that would be suicide by cops.

YOU are the PROBLEM in America today. Anyone can yell POLICE when they bust in your house. A normal Knock and Serve warrant would have prevented this innocent man's death, but you love the tyrannical state so much, you are such a fascist scumbag, that you blame THE INNOCENT MAN FOR HIS DEATH BY POLICE.

The delicious part is that you, too, will feel the boot. And when you do, I will laugh and laugh and laugh at you.

Just like the armed felon in the elevator with the president, those are his people. The day will come that Obama surrounds himself with Zanu PF style activists.

Sure, but who accepted the statement from the druggie? Who requested the warrant? Who decided the best way to execute the warrant was with a swat team?

But this way they get to play with all their shiny toys and hopefully shoot someone.

Nothing in that article suggests that the cops were in the wrong.

You seem to be talking out of both sides of your mouth Mr. sagar.

Which is it sagar?

Wow, you have just guaranteed that if I ever sit on a jury in which someone shoots thugged up LEOs outside of their house I will acquit, since they are rightfully in fear for their life. Thanks for your service to those brave troopers!

I’d like to see conservative Representatives and Senators at both the state and federal levels start proposing legislation to end these activities by the cops. I’m not holding my breath because they would have to admit they were wrong back in the 80’s and 90’s when they were stampeding each other trying to be the first to sponsor the legislation that allowed all this. I remember if you had any question at all about the constitutionality or bringing up worse-case scenarios you were accused of being in favor of 5-yr old children smoking crack.

"You can’t brandish weapons when cops have a warrant to search your house."

What if you don't know they have a warrant, or even who they are?

It's hard to say from the article, but it sounds like they discovered the cops on their property.

“pls point out in the article where he KNEW THEY WERE COPS!!! let alone that they were serving a warrant...”

There is no constitutional requirement for a warning before the execution of a warranted search.

Dear Sagar,

Did you actually read the article?

If so, you should remember the issue of identification.

I want to know the race of all participants, as the Atlanta JBT’s once shot an elderly grandma and then kept the medics waiting outside until she had bled out and was dead.

Having committed first degree murder, those JBT’s were not executed, just jailed a bit.

Until some JBT’s are actually executed for such murders, and all judgements are paid from police pension funds and/or the individual assets of the offending JBT - until then the JBT class will kill at will.

“I am not shocked that the perp made his silly allegation. I am shocked that anybody listened to him.”

“Yes, this is what’s unfreakingbelievable.”

Now how many people listened to and voted for Obama and the Democrats?

Even if I were to agree with you (which I don't), isn't there a compelling interest by the police not to create situations that could lead to unnecessary violence and death? Don't they have a moral obligation to treat their fellow citizens like people instead of subjects? Or are those concepts just too bothersome for overgrown kids who don't want to miss out on a chance to play army?

So that (police planting drugs with intent to frame) really does happen? It’s not just a case of Sour Urban Grapes?
I would be quite bitter and resentful if that happened to me.
I would never forget it.
