from what I hear:
—Howie on all 4 hours today via ISDN line from his house.
Word is RKO won’t carry his new show—Bangor paper got date wrong. To start Mon the 17th after all

—Howie on vacation all next week, fill ins incl. Mike Siegel I’d think. By 11/17 I’d think Howie disappears from RKO site.
Oh, Fisher House radiothon next Mon/. No mention of Howie

more tidbits about Howie; on the radiodiscussions board, someone (”Unregistered”) said Howie would still be on WRKO but just not doing the show from there.

MRBIBoredup replied:
_____
Then you know something the rest of us don’t, because everything I have heard is Entercom declined to pick the show up.

There were conditions Howie would not agree to, and you can quote me on this because it came straight out of Howie’s mouth, one of the sticking points was WRKO wanted some control over the show and Howie said NO. He is adamant that this is his venture and WRKO is not going to dictate the format, sound, or flavor of it.

I may run over to Two Guy’s on Saturday and say hello, I am out of smokes at the moment and could use a good cigar.

If I do get to see him I will get an update for the rest of us radio junkies.

And it is no secret Barry Armstrong is renting him studio space, Howie will maintain an office in the same building apart from Barry’s operation. He will be doing more broadcasts from Florida, using the Newsmax studios, once his last daughter has moved out I expect to see him do the show from Florida a lot more often. And that info was straight from Mrs Carr’s mouth

Sunday column ping. A reminder that this week on the Howie Carr show there will be a Fisher House radiothon Mon then guest hosts the rest of the week. The “new” Howie show, under Howie’s control, will debut on Mon Nov 17 and WRKO will not be carrying it. Other options include WCRN 830,
WXTK 95.1, and streaming from TuneIn (WNTK-WUVR, WXTK) and iHeartRadio (WHYN, WXTK). WNTK-WUVR has an app, and I
think WCRN does too.

Approximate daytime signal range of WCRN AM 830 (Main signal within red area, distant within purple, fringe within blue):

Approx night-time signal range of WCRN AM 830 (Main signal within red area, distant within purple)

I put a bug in the ear of the general manager of WUFC 1510 about the possibility of them picking up Howie but I don't know if they'll be able to afford it; who knows. The word is that Howie's people offered the show to WRKO but only under HIS conditions including "hard cash, and ad time". WRKO told him to stuff it. It's possible the "Howie Carr Show" stuff will appear on the WRKO site for another week or so.

howiecarr.com is controlled by Entercom.
howiecarrshow.com is controlled by Howie and will have a complete affiliate list

Howie Carr Done at WRKO (Boston Globe 11/12/2014)

“His contract with WRKO has ended,” Entercom flak Greg Kaufman told us. “His last show was last Friday. He’s off this week and will be starting a new program next week. We wish him luck in all his endeavors.”

Yup and as far as I know all of his other stations will still be on board.
Former prod Doug VB Goudie was ket go today by Cox, new owners of Fox 25 and some wonder if he could get the Howie slot on 680.

I suppose Howie will no longer be using the RKO studio in Brighton.

Have you heard where he's going to be broadcasting from?

From the Money Matters studios in Needham. Some time he had Barry Armstrong on and called him his new office mate. Howie may do shows from Newsmax studios in Florida

Howie apparently will be on 1510 with revived call letters of WMEX

http://www.fybush.com/nerw-extra-20141113/

>>Carr, for his part, wasted no time finding a new Boston outlet. If he was unhappy with the night signal of WRKO all those years, he’s going to be even more miserable after dark on WUFC (1510), which is expected to announce today that it’s picking up Carr’s new syndicated show alongside the other Boston Herald Radio content it now carries. And that’s not the only announcement coming from 1510: back at the end of October, it quietly applied to change calls to WMEX, a heritage callsign it could start using as early as today.

Can a revived WMEX break through the static to get any traction in a radio market that’s quickly migrating from AM to FM?

I know he's wanted to be on FM.

I would've thought that's where he'd go.

At this point nobody wants to run talk on FM in Boston (commercial radio that is; some left leaning news and talk on non-comm. WBUR and WGBH). WTKK gave it up due to poor ratings. In Pittsburgh iHeart/Clear Channel switched their FM talk station to country and a 7,000 watt AM station owned by someone else is now running Rush, Hannity etc there.
