I don't know if by "ad time" Howie meant to pack more commercials per hour into his show. That's my only complaint about his new WMEX show: SO many commercials!
I tried to time his average talking vs. ad time the other day... Howie would talk for only about 12 minutes, then 4 minutes of ads, then another 12 or so minutes of talk, followed by 4+ minutes of commercials.
Howie, if you're reading this: STOP it already!! Just when he would get going on an interesting topic, "Oops, gotta go to break... this is Howie Carr." GRR!
I *really* miss Howie's 30 minute commercial-free monologue at the beginning of his show at 3pm. It was a real treat each day...
It sounds like they have more frequent ad breaks—maybe fewer ads but more breaks. What’s interesting is at the end of the hour they take a call and Howie tells the caller “quickly...” So they barely have time to say anything and I think, well they’re gonna go into more ads. But then Howie and Sandy talk about something or read a clip—why not let the caller have at least a little more time?
So, more ads? Could be but some breaks seem shorter.
Supposedly Howie had hinted one of several new stations to be announced would be in Bristol County, MA. Am thinking it could be WSAR 1480 Fall River or WBSM 1420 New Bedford tho the latter runs lefty talk shows like Stephanie Miller and Thom Hartmann.
Some wonder if WGIR 610 Manchester NH or WHJJ 920Prov RI couod pick up Howie. Both owned by Clr Channel/iHeart who also own Howie’s affiliates WXTK 95.1 Cape Cod and WHYN 560 Holyoke but the consensus is they’d rather run Hannity live on WHJJ and WGIR. Both would be good additions but would
iHeart go for it?
