We don’t even know if people that live in areas of Africa with Ebola have a genetically predisposed resistance to it (it may have been around earlier than 1976) and those dying from it in Africa may have a quirk in their DNA which makes them susceptible to it.
The Western world may NOT. We don’t know. Unless of course it was engineered, which then “they would know”.
The Govt. can’t claim “settled science” on this. I remember while in high school reading about those containment labs in which they store the lethal viruses. Layer after layer of hazmat wear and ventilation systems with negative pressure. Reading about the labs was enough to scare me off about a career in viral research.
