Thanks, BA, I had not seen that.

Ebola Zaire, or a "divergent lineage" of the same. Nice. I believe that is considered the most virulent strain of Ebola.

There was actually a professional ‘discussion’ when the first sequencing paper came out in April. The first paper’s authors wanted to call it ebola guinea as they argued it was a new strain. Subsequent ‘discussions’ in the genomics of ebola put it back in the Zaire family. There may have been political reasons for that reclassification. And, the first guys may have wanted special accolades for having discovered a new strain. I can see arguments for both.
