That might have been true fifteen or ten years ago

It's STILL true, and even more so today. The only thing that staying home rather than casting a vote for an imperfect Republican has done is GOT MORE DEMOCRATS ELECTED, and those Democrats have turned into the most socialistic, anti-American domestic force we've ever encountered. We simply can't afford to increase their numbers! Even the RINOs were reasonable enough to vote against Obamacare.

It's just a matter of degree. I would rather have a RINO that votes against me 40 percent of the time, than a Democrat in a majority of Democrats who is guaranteed to vote against me 100 percent of the time. They are determined to push through the rest of their "agenda" in these next two years even if they have to do it illegally. It just has to stop, or we're finished.

We can go great guns in '16 on getting the RINOs out, but we may not even get to '16 if we don't stop the insanity in '14. And this IS insanity we've got going here, right now.

My point isn't about imperfect Republicans, it's that voting Republican for the sake of Republican is throwing your vote away given the fecklessness of the party.
After all, how hard (even politically) would it have been to take a stand against the IRS's political targeting? Or the NSA's domestic espionage? — Those are two issues that "moderates" (democrat or republican) and independents would cheer seeing actual action taken on. But nope, the GOP does nothing.

We simply can't afford to increase their numbers! Even the RINOs were reasonable enough to vote against Obamacare.

If they do nothing to stop the Democrats, then how is voting for them going to help?
Seriously, mere incompetence would see better results pursuing platform planks than what we've seen; they are complicit.

It's just a matter of degree.

Nope, it's not.
It's a matter of the Republican party, as a party, bitching and moaning for the camera as they eagerly help the Democrats with their hands — but we've seen theh mask slipping, just look at how eager the Republican party, as a party, is for amnesty.

You apparently don't understand — the Republican party isn't with you 40% of the time, they're against you 100% of the time.
They are statists! They want to subjugate you.

RINO? If RINO means Republican In Name Only then people like Ted Cruz are the RINO in that he actually means what he says compared to the rest.
The insanity is thinking that (R) magically makes politicians better than they have proven themselves to be by virtue of their actions.
