LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) President Barack Obama Friday declared more than 346,000 acres of the San Gabriel Mountain range a national monument.
Obama arrived in San Dimas by helicopter and made the announcement around 1:40 p.m.
Proponents believe the declaration will help protect the area, which does not include Wrightwood and Mt. Baldy Village, by keeping it clean; while those who oppose say the decision will add more restrictions that would make it more difficult for businesses.
Whats going to happen is, they are basically going to put up signs and locks and keys when they cant decide a budge, protester Tony Hammers said. We dont want it. We love our place its clean. Its already managed by the National Forest Service. Theres nothing wrong with it. Its not broke it doesnt need to be fixed.
Congressman Judy Chu, who has been spearheading the effort, says there will be no restrictions added to certain areas including no new fees or gates, and it will not stifle the economy. Fridays declaration was part of Americas Great Outdoors initiative to permanently protect areas of significance around the country.
Anyone living inside the 346,000 acres will be Shot On Sight
Pretty well sums up my take on it. More from the president of nonsense...
I’ve hiked there.
The place is awesome, clean and self managed by those who walk the area.
No restrictions today but, for sure, there will be in the near future.
This land is not my land,
This land is not your land,
From California,
To the New York Highlands,
This land was taken by Lock and fee,
For the givernment and Holy King...
"HUT! HUT! HUT! YOU THERE, HALT! ... CITIZEN, WHERE'S YOUR US FORESTRY SERVICE WILDERNESS ADVENTURE PASS?! CAN'T ADVENTURE IN THE WILDERNESS WITHOUT A PASS YOU KNOW! HOLD YOUR FIRE, MEN..."
San Dimas, home of Bill and Ted.................
“Congressman Judy Chu, who has been spearheading the effort, says there will be no restrictions added to certain areas including no new fees or gates, and it will not stifle the economy. “
No restrictions added to “Certain” areas. In other words those “Certain” areas will be for those who are exempt.
If you like your mountains, you can keep your mountains...............
Time to do some investigating since the motives are not clear. Do the Chinese want to claim all federal land when they call in our debts? What is under the ground? Who lives around it? The man who was fundraising in California doesn’t give a hoot about owls or any other living thing besides himself, so have fun!
I’ve hiked these mountains many times over many years. Completely unnecessary. This is simply Ebola’s land grab by executive order—without congressional consent.
The first candidate who says he or she will rescind this EO gets my support.
Ironic how St. Dim @ss is in San Dimas today.......
Headline: President Obama today dedicated the San Gabriel
Mountain National Indian Monument and Nuclear Cobalt
Testing Range.
“We are going to make a new life out of the American
Indian...”.
Vast amounts of water in and under these mountains.
President Ebola flies into LAX, creates massive traffic jams for thousands of Angelenos, begs for millions of $ in Beverly Hills, nationalizes local mountains, and laughs at America.
Sick.
Had ENOUGH Yet ?
Judy Chu.
My pass thru life is on the shorter end of the candle, unless I make it to 120.
I think we need to seriesly ask who benefits most?
Mexican Cartels who run plantations and want ones closer to the border until the HighSpeedRail is done?
Earth Firsters?
I need to CHU on this one for a bit, kind of gristly.
“Congressman Judy Chu, who has been spearheading the effort, says there will be no restrictions added to certain areas including no new fees or gates, and it will not stifle the economy.”
Translation: There will be restrictions, including new fees and gates and it will stifle the economy.
Count on it.
So what’s the punishment for hunting in the kings forest?
CC
One of my favorite movies.
Ditto that. Great scene, too. :-)
