That said, yes there are limits to what we can do to protect them against themselves; however, no matter how much you want to ignore them, they aren't going to ignore you. So if you accept the unstoppable existance of Islam, they you must accept never ending war with Islam. If that is the case, then why play defense?
In less than 100 years, Islam spread across the mideast, North Africa, and central Asia. With concerted effort, it could be rolled back more quickly. But there is no will to exercise the means of doing it.
I’m not advocating ignoring it. But if they are busy killing each other, why are we intervening? Why are we saving Muslims from other Muslims?
Furthermore, I’m not interested in bombing an idea. As long as they stay in their countries and kill each other that’s fine.
As far as expansion, Islam is not taking over any countries by force any longer. They are doing it by stealth but they are doing it in countries which are WILLINGLY being taken over by Islam. Or at least their governments are allowing Islam to slowly take over their country. If the people there do not rise up against it, why fight for them?
The countries that are closest to ISIS right now are not fighting against them and seem rather unconcerned about them. To the extent they are (mildly) concerned they expect the USA to “do something”.
I say NO.
Lebanon, Israel, India, Southern Sudan, etc. Everywhere they border a non-Islamic country they are pushing with violence to control it.
If we are going to fight Islam, and I prefer it to death. Then it should be a total war directly aimed at Islam. If we don't have the stomach for that, then there is something to be said for retreating behind our wall until we do.
We supported Omar al-Bashir of the Khartoum government in Northern Sudan even though the people of sourthern Sudan (mostly Christian and animist were begging for our help).
We have a history of supporting the wrong side.
Yes, I concur. My argument is to start supporting the right side, all the time, as a long term strategy.
