PS. I don’t buy the BS that not approving the proposed law means families will be torn asunder and people will be unable to get their children to doctors or school. That is complete nonsense as people have been managing to do that even when they don’t have a driver’s license. They’ve even managed to get to jobs or school without one.
Having a driver’s license is not a right. It is a privilege which I can see the State extending to illegal immigrants in very limited and restricted circumstances. One of those of course would be having insurance.
Which makes me ask? If the accident rate is higher amongst illegal immigrants would insurance then be out of the financial reach of these applicants? What then? Do we waive the insurance requirement? I would answer “Hell No”, but then again I’m not arguing that a DL is a right which is what the Bishops in the article seem to be doing.
