The Ebola Factor: Rick Perry’s popularity soars with his decisive approach
The Washington Times ^ | October 12, 2014 | Jennifer Harper

Yes, the presence of a deadly disease in Texas has benefited a certain governor. What with intense and alarming media coverage of two Ebola cases in the Lone Star state, Gov. Rick Perry has risen to the opportunity and gotten decisive indeed. It has paid off. Republican attitudes toward Mr. Perry have “improved significantly,” says YouGov polling analyst Kathy Frankovic, who reports that Mr. Perry’s favorability ratings have quickly jumped 16 percentage points — rising from 51 percent in late September to 67 percent by late last week.

While President Obama has yet to appoint an Ebola “czar” to coordinate U.S. response to the disease, Mr. Perry has already launched the “Texas Task Force on Infectious Disease Preparedness and Response,” complete with an aggressive emergency plan and hands-on director Dr. Brett P. Giroir, who warns of an “interconnected world” and vows that Texas is “fully prepared for the worst-case scenario, no matter what form that may take.”

Mr. Perry’s bodacious moves could burnish his image as a 2016 presidential hopeful, and those promising polling numbers should remain stable for a while, and possibly even improve. He should ready another kind of battle plan, though. None of this has been lost on his critics.

“The only ‘spread of Ebola’ in the U.S. was caused by a private hospital in a red state,” tweeted MSNBC host Joy Reid on Sunday.

Didn’t he also say that anyone who opposes in state tuition for illegal immigrants “doesn’t have a heart”? Yep he did.
***************************
Nope! He didn’t say that or support that.

The law that passed in Texas ONLY applied to children brought to Texas by their illegal alien parent(s); attended Texas public schools and graduated high school with grades qualifying them to attend State colleges/univs. ...The law does NOT permit all illegal aliens to receive in-state tuition.

Where do you get this stuff? Your opinion does not equate to fact.

Post any link to ANY info or poll showing that Perry was or is in trouble here as you claim.

Other than the occasional ronpaul libertarian on FR, I never hear a bad word about Perry anywhere in Texas.

I live in Texas. Either you do not, or you have no clue what’s going on.

Try these facts on for size.

“Only 23% think he should run in 2016, compared to 66% who think he should sit it out. Even among GOP primary voters only 34% think he should make another bid with 52% dissenting. “

The above quote is from the second article listed below.

Let’s see, you quote WAPO, not exactly a friend to conservatives, then go to a PPP poll that devotes half the report to the Rangers.

I could be wrong, but isn’t PPP one of the liberal machine pollsters, especially considering how strongly Politico likes em?

Who you going to quote next Texas Tribune, the Soros funded rag?

I sure as heck have no issue with anyone expressing their OPINION, so long as they don’t egotistically try to claim they speak for all the rest of us. You’ll never get any argument from me regarding “Cruz is most popular politician in Texas”. Today I would not pick Perry, but he still beats the crap out of all the others, other than Cruz, that are being pushed.

Well I’ve been hanging out here for nearly 70 years, Native Texan, 6th Generation. You still got that Uhaul hooked on from your migration from one of those Blue States?

you are an dummy.

Real Texicans are Conservatives, not RINO apologists.

My family came to Texas in the land grant days, and we got land from the Stephen F Austin Grant. FYI, that’s before Texas was it’s own country.

I take it you DID know Rick Perry campaigned for Al Gore in Texas.

“Current Texas Governor, Republican Rick Perry, who at the time was a Democrat, campaigned for Gore during the primaries”

The above quote is from the wiki article on Al Gore’s 1988 campaign.

Nope, that’s all you have is insulting people.

I am not Ron Paul or Rand Paul libertarian.

You however. ARE a RINO who supports someone who campaigned for Al Gore here in Texas in 1988.

Fact is, Pretty Frat boy Rick Perry is Done due to his own corrupt big government shenanigans.

Trans Texas Corridor. Vaccinnating 12 year old schoolgirls for STDs. Relatives lobbying the Texas Government.....

We don’t need a president like this, and Texas know we don’t need him as governor, either.
