Are they wearing air tanks? If not they are breathing possibly infected breath from the patient.
That vertical face mask doesn’t seem to give much protection.
Stuff can fall from above and land on their eyelashes and noses.
If that mask curved over their heads then it would appear safer.
If I had to use that masks, I’d use duct tape to secure it to the head wear.
