Hagan Husband Pocketed Stimulus Savings
The Weekly Standard ^ | 10-15-14 | Michael Warren

Posted on 10/15/2014 3:14:06 AM PDT by afraidfortherepublic

A company owned by the husband of Democratic senator Kay Hagan of North Carolina received taxpayer money for a green energy project through the federal stimulus of 2009, later revising down the project's estimated cost and keeping the difference.

Don Carrington at the Carolina Journal, a publication of the conservative John Locke Foundation, has the scoop on how JDC Manufacturing, co-owned by Chip Hagan kept savings from a stimulus grant instead of returning the money to taxpayers:

The company’s original application stated the total project would cost $438,627, and said JDC would contribute “leveraged funds” amounting to $187,983, or 43 percent of the total. As the project reached completion, however, JDC revised the total budget downward by $114,519 and applied all the savings to its share, keeping all the taxpayer funding.

Also, JDC’s decision to hire Solardyne/Green State Power, a separate company co-owned by Chip Hagan and the Hagans’ son Tilden, to install a portion of the stimulus-funded energy project at the JDC building appears to violate a conflict-of-interest provision that was included as part of the original application for the stimulus grant.

Read the whole thing here, which details how Hagan's company contributed a smaller investment in the project as originally outlined in its application for the federal grant. Kay Hagan voted for the stimulus bill that provided for the grant.

Now wait just a minute here....

The race is three weeks away....the only negative stories that are supposed to be reported are against the gop candidate...not sitting democrat incumbents...

Someone is getting off the meme here...

I would bet good money this story gets turned around that the gop is just too mean spirited and should have let sleeping dogs lie...

But can Tillis and his campaign use this information to his advantage? Somehow highly paid GOP campaign “consultants” never seem to be able to message effectively even when a PR gift is presented on a silver platter. Tillis and his team seem to have a knack for missing the nail when they swing the hammer.

Hagan is weak and the seat should be an easy GOP win with a halfway decent candidate. To date the Tillis campaign effort has been mediocre at best so Hagan has a good chance of winning.

What do you mean "owned by her husband"?

If they're married that means she owns it, too.

When are people going to start relating “green” to corruption. Every time you see the color on an Eco ad or hear it discussed you should immediately start looking for corruption. She made them pass a bill that fav money to her husbands company. Pelosi did it too...they should be in jail not in congress.

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.

All Democrat politicians are crooks. That’s how they can retire as multimillionaires in spite of being idiots, whose one talent is promising Free Stuff to their gullible voters.

One BIG reason that we are in such financial straits is the practice of funneling money to FOO’s......Friends of Obama. None of those are having trouble making ends meet.

This is such a typical story from the Age of Obama. Yet another well-connected Democrat gets rich off government money through Crony Capitalism.

At least we know where the bribe came from.

Hagan must be defeated if I have to go to north carolina on election day and vote as pedro gonzales over and over again until my finger is blue.

Crony capitalism. Both sides do it. Electoral change just changes the cronies.

This race is totally run by the GOPe...and turned a sure win into a loss!
