President Barack Obama is expected to issue an executive order Thursday paving the way for the deployment of National Guard forces to Liberia to help contain the Ebola outbreak there, sources told NBC News.

The sources said that eight engineers and logistical specialists from the Guard, both active-duty and reservists, would probably be included in the first deployment. They are expected to help build 17 Ebola treatment centers, with 100 beds apiece. The sources said that no decision had been made.

He’s also a virulently, bitterly anti-American communist.

” No.

He is NOT insane.

He is PURE HATEFUL EVIL.

Satan walks among us. “

ABSOLUTELY! In this case, Obama has made his ententions for our military quite clear.

Demoralize them en masse, so few will enlist.

Is Obama trying to provoke some sort of crisis in the military? If some or all of these units refuse to go, what happens? Can Obama claim there is a coup brewing and impose martial law?

This may be straying into tin foil hat territory, but I wonder how much more people will take until there is widespread rebellion. As the Chinese curse goes, we live in interesting times.

My first reaction is NO, HELL NO!!! But this will bring the lunacy home directly to the states. It is an over-reach that will bite that Kenyan in the arse.

Why infect the military, they are not doctors and if you expect them to police the zombie state you are only going to get them all sick.

Yes, by all means – his sublime bodily fluids (if not his mere presence) will attack & eradicate any existing Ebola virus and immunize Humanity against further outbreaks……

At first the number of our military to go was to be 3,000. Now it is at 4,000.

When we needed to fight our troop numbers were 10k less than requested and of course we all know that the publicized draw down allowed America’s enemies and the executive branch’s allies to wait and rally.

Number of units from NJ ANG currently deployed to Qatar. (and no, that isn’t breaking OpSec). I can tell you those troops have no clue, no training and no equipment to handle Ebola.

That would be too convenient. Obama thinks of the military as a political tool to send on humanitarian missions around the world.

I could see large scale mutiny by the National Guard as they would be sent to Africa for a job for which they have not trained, likely not be given that training nor the necessary equipment to keep them safe. This proposal is ridiculous and shows that the Obama administration has no plan nor any clue about Ebola.

Why aren’t we already out there marching in the streets? NO National Guard to Liberia. He’s already sending 4,000 regular Army there - to do jobs they are not trained for and no doubt to be infected and unable to return to the US - and now he wants to go out to every state and haul in the productive people who are National Guard members and send them off for no useful purpose to this life-and-national-security threatening middle of nowhere (where the disease has apparently also become much more virulent)?

"What if the NG simply refused to go?"

My unit used recovery teams to go out and physically snatch AWOLs back to the armory. AWOLs were prosecuted as AWOLs, deserters were prosecuted as deserters. Some rear-echelon units, with their comforts, might be different.
