I think on the surface the remark sounds very offensive, but the way I took it was the way Vermont explained it. He/She was doing a reactive statement to what we could see if that racial scenario he/she described took place.
As Vermont pointed out, the Race Baiters have already made accusations (unfairly) about how there are inequities in care for black people. While the comment made by Vermont may have been ill advised, I think Vermont DID explain the remark as requested. No one here disagrees that the nurses are brave.
IMHO Vermont’s remark was not denigrating the nurses, but rather a sarcastic comment about the nattering Race Baiters seizing on another possible opportunity to practice their nonsense. It is THEY who are disrespecting ALL of us, the nurses in particular, should this hypothetical scenario develop.
By God’s grace it is all only hypothetical at this moment. We all pray fervently that both nurses are able to survive.
BTW, thank you, Eva for your work as a dental hygienist. That is a demanding job, and requires a lot of skill, compassion, and sometimes, even bravery.
There may be people making pans to politicize the Ebola outbreak. Actually, it is obvious that there such people, but FreeRepublic is not the place to make plans for a counter attack or mitigation. Believe me, I know. They will try to destroy you.
The school needs confirmation from the CDC.
Screw that. The school is the one who will get sued if they don’t do anything.
Frankly, each school needs to ask, “Have you been in Western Africa the past 90 days?” If so go find a nice private school somewhere.
To this day I can’t give blood because of the Mad Cow scare back in the 90s. Close off the borders to West Africa travelers. They’ll get over it. Or die trying.

I can't believe it! Dekalb did something right! I guess they were bound to make a mistake and NOT do the wrong thing sooner or later.
The Democrats believe you should never let a good emergency go to waste. It sounds stupid I know, but, I really believe these people are trying to make it worse so they can have a reason to take more control of our lives. Many people will beg for it and think it only makes sense. I don’t believe it can happen fast enough to delay the election but then again, this administration has surprised me before.

While you’re comment has been questioned/criticized down-thread...I understand your reasoning, and there is truth in your comment. I wish Ebola was the only enemy in this tragedy.
Can you imagine the civil lawsuits if they allowed these kids to enroll in school after returning from Ebola ground zero?
