I used to serve on `admin sep’ boards in the reserves.
The effect is the same as a court martial, but it’s an administrative process. Conducted just like a court martial, but instead of conviction, a recommendation is made to the chain of command as to whether or not a service member used illegal drugs & that individual’s potential for rehabilitation. It’s his commander’s decision to retain or separate. JAGs serve more as advisors than as officers of the court.
If the C.O. decides to separate, it’s usually a general discharge which may or may not affect VA benefits afterwards.
Since Hunter Biden has a brother Beau Biden who did serve as a JAG, he sure as h*** should have taken some advice about command directed urinalysis & the consequences of coming up hot. The stupidity doesn’t fall far from the tree.

A Dishonorable Discharge and a Bad Conduct Discharge, both of which are only given to Enlisted, can only be given as a form of punishment stemming from a General Courts-Martial. The equivalent of a Dishonorable Discharge for an Officer is called Dismissal from the Service. It also can only be given as a result of a General Courts-Martial. My guess, since there was no dealing involved, and his daddy is a big-wig, an administrative discharge was the route taken.

Guess I was thinking in terms of the enlisted ranks about discharge labels.
Hunter been in trouble before by being involved in bad hedge funds, along with his uncle, Joe Biden’s brother.
So far Beau Biden, hunter’s older brother, has kept his nose clean. He should—he is the Attorney General of DE.
Let me revise what I would say, if a applicant came to me for a job and he had an other than honorable, I most likely would not hire him.

The billion dollar law firm I worked at for a year was the only job I ever applied for that did not drug screen. Drug use itself wasn't even outright grounds for termination. If it became a PROBLEM and you did not seek addiction counseling BEFORE they raised the issue, then you could be terminated. Plenty of cokehead lawyers out there.
