The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights revealed on Friday that the brutal Islamic State (ISIS) terror group has begun training pilots on three captured fighter jets, relying on the knowledge of Iraqi pilots who have joined the group.

Rami Abdul Rahman, director of the monitoring group, said witnesses in northern Syria have seen the group flying the three MiG 21 or MiG 23 model jets above the al-Jarrah airbase east of Aleppo, in the first instance of ISIS going airborne, reports Reuters. […]

ISIS has captured several fighter jets during its conquest of Syria and Iraq. In August it captured several MiGs when it took Tabqa airbase in northern Syria from President Bashar Assad’s forces.

Meanwhile the US, which has been leading an international coalition in conducting airstrikes against ISIS, was also training locals to fly fighter jets according to Lebanese reports in Arabic. …

I’m sure our fighter pilots will be happy to make that happen.

Why haven’t all ISIS aircraft installations been reduced to rubble by our carrier jets? (like all the empty building bombed.

“MiG 21 or MiG 23”

The new pilots will be prey, and therefore should pray before takeoff.

I read somewhere these were Syrian MiG 21’s. Old, fast little buggers with very little ability to turn. Basically targets for any Gen4 fighter. I predict that each will be a smokinig hole if they ever get frisky with navy Hornets.

If they’re “allowed” to take them out...

That thought did cross my mind.

“The former is the same entity that’s helping Iran go nuclear.”

I wouldn't be surprised if the Ruskis are ripping them off for billions and causing all those “accidents”

If the Russians didn’t want Iran to have nukes, they would be up front about that fact.

Why? This way Iran thinks they are friends AND they get paid.

“Sorry about the 1000 centrifuges, Hamid. Must have been those Zionists again. Give us $10 Billion more for a new, improved facility that God himself cannot destroy!”

How is that better or easier than conquering the area and getting paid anyway by taking over their oil fields?

Nope, the Russkies are quite happy with Iran going nuclear.

Hornet pilots’ hands probably itch to have an encounter with ISIS planes.

I have heard that Navy F/A-18 drivers are dancing naked around bond fires on the flight deck in celebration.
It's been a long time since anyone has locked one up for realizes

I’d prefer that they explode in mid-air.

More fun for our fighter jocks to take them out mid-air. Can practice on stationary target any time.

Better get them trained quickly. Camel drivers do not good fighter pilots make! Iran bought a load of F-14’s back in the days of the Shah. Those “Tomcats” are all static displays now. The USAF mechanics and Grumman advisors/instructors left with the Shah and that was the end of that program.
Life expectancy of a towel head flying a MIG 23 could be seconds after engagement, minutes if the USN jock was eating supper in the “Hornet” cockpit!
