You haven’t nominated a Conservative. Of course they’ll never win in your straw man. Your little pea liberal brain ignores that fact. Nominate a Conservative and they will win ... but you are afraid they might win ... and there goes the neighborhood.
If a conservative is on the ticket I won’t hesitate a nanosecond to pull the trigger of course I want one there and vote in primaries to try to put them there but what I won’t do should the conservative not win is stomp my feet grab my marbles and go home. You fight for your person in the primaries. You vote for the one that came out in the general with the hopes long term yyouturn the tide. To do otherwise guaruntees the downfall and those that do so are fully complicit
