“Proofread! These sentences make no sense as written...”Leviathan on is?”...”the miraculous tool powers?” The writing is so poor one cannot discern the intent.”
So what grade do you give it teach? A C+
I bet most news articles drive you nuts.
Feel free to grade my posts at will, I could
use the help.
My apologies for the typos which were not corrected by proofreading which, contrary to the evidence, was actually done.
I posted about this lapse before which I believe comes from using Dragon NaturallySpeaking software which sometimes simply gets the dictation wrong. Sometimes an open mic can cause a problem. But the real problem is databoss suggests is the failure of effective proofreading. I've had discussions on other threads with editors and I think it has to do with the tricks our brains play on us when we read what we have written or think we have written or, in my case, have dictated. We think we are reading what we expect to read and so our proofreading fails. [As an example, the last sentence came out, "so are proofreading fails." But that mistake at least was caught in proofreading.]
To cope I have tried reading from the bottom up and otherwise out of order with some limited success.
Thanks for the corrections.
