I have the HTC flashlight on my M8. And very few other apps.

Google the issue, appears to be mostly hyperbole.

Quite the contrary, this has been on the radar of major security and black hat operations across the country and the world as a red-level threat. It’s so simple, most people don’t think about it, and most people want to use their phones as flashlights when necessary.

This was raised as a high-priority corporate security vulnerability by several mobile audit companies such as PCI and PWC and is actively monitored by mobile device management solutions such as AirWatch.

Time for everyone to wake up. We might have to do without a lot of things to remain secure.

Sounds like an opportunity.

Sell Regular Flashlights that have a built-in NON-SMART cell phone.

Or maybe just velco a small flashlight you can velcro to your iphone. In matching color, of course.

Or just buy an iPhone, which has a flashlight utility built DIRECTLY into iOS. I do love their attempt at FUD by showing iPhones.

That’s kind of the way the HTC M8 is, the flashlight is a core HTC app.

My GPS does not turn on by itself, I know that much.

My galaxy had a built in widget for light.

Thank you, I was going to post the same thing.

Apple didn't add it to iOS until recently (either 6 or 7), but it's there: you bring up the control panel from the bottom of the screen.

Not everyone knows about it. I recently saw a friend using her old flashlight app, and showed her how to bring up the control panel.

I wouldn’t be caught dead outside at night without my Xenon tac-light. My phone is a phone. It’s used to make and receive phone calls. It’s not a flashlight, a level, a ruler, or a compass; it’s a phone.
