Your approach will not succeed either as millions of Christians walk away from active participation in the GOP. The GOP will never be able to replace those voters and will become the perpetual minority party unable to affect the very strategy you propose.

Furthermore, this approach will not attract anywhere enough of the Libertarian and disaffected Independents needed to replace the missing conservative voters.
