Some Oklahoma parents are concerned about how little their kids are getting to eat at school.

Are they pulling their kids out?

Boycotting the school lunch program?

Packing lunches for school?

This isn't hard. At all.

Just pack a lunch. And if anyone gives them a hard time, give the kids little business cards that say, "You eat this crap."

Make the rules apply to kids that are actually fat??????

I was just trying to figure out how leftists think, applying their own statements. I don't agree with it.

I mean if the point were to reduce obesity, why don't they focus on the obese?

Of course the point is power and control. Not obesity.

Many of the places implementing this in the most militant manner ban packed lunches, unless the food nazi inspects and approves.

“How about they just make these rules apply to kids that are actually FAT, while not counting the athletes muscles as fat?”

Why quite simply to avoid stigmatizing the child and ruining their self-esteem.

My granddaughter is in pre-school. Yes, pre-school. She refuses to eat the Obama lunch but the school has a rule that if you pack a lunch it must be the SAME Mon-Friday. No changes. The policy is designed to eventually break the back of parents who opt out of the federally-mandated Obama lunch. It’s such a big problem they are looking for another pre-school.

We’re having chicken, brocoli, baked apples and milk tonight. Nothing wrong with that.

But, but what about the poor widdle kiddies who’s only meals are from school!!!!! That’s why we have to have free breakfasts and free lunches (paid for with our ridiculously high property taxes). And why we have to have summer lunches. Moo is starving the starving!!!!

I saw a program by Jamie Oliver who was trying to update a California school districts lunch program with healthy - well made and tasty food for the same price they were currently doing it for - the reactions he got from the Unions basically made him give up. While I am for parents feeding their own kids and not the state he certainly made a radical and good change to the sort of food being served up in English schools. What we do know is that kids palates are different from adults and any program that doesn’t take that into account is doomed to fail.

This was such a stupid idea from the outset. I seriously doubt any childhood obesity problem in the US could ever have been tied to school lunches. Better check what the fat kids are eating and drinking after school and on weekends. And better check to see how much exercise they get and how much time they spend playing video games and watching TV.

A typical, stupid leftist idea that applies the ‘solution’ to everyone rather than only to those who actually have the problem.

Glad you posted their menu for the day at the Obama’s girls school. It speaks volumes when compared to the lunches of the average students promoted by Michelle. Seems like a story fit for a Fox News talk program.

Brazilian salad sounds like a terrible euphemism.

That would make a good thread. Could post their daily/weekly/monthly menu and then compare it to other school menus around the country.

My granddaughter is in pre-school. Yes, pre-school. She refuses to eat the Obama lunch but the school has a rule that if you pack a lunch it must be the SAME Mon-Friday. No changes.

Have your son/daughter pack her a different lunch.

If they confiscate it, have her/him write a letter-to-the-editor of the local paper.

They will back off from YOUR grandaughter, since they don't want to give up the federal money.

If they don't back off, she/he can be an ice pick in their ear.

They're taking your tax money from you by force, and forcing your grandaughter into their government school. They're holding YOUR grandaughter hostage.

If people roll over for such small potatoes, there's no hope of ever rolling back the almighty State.

I actually ran for school committee in my home town, in retaliation for 12 years in the schoolag archipelago. They couldn't stop me. I had a field day.

If you can, I suggest going to the school and having lunch as much as possible with your granddaughter. Bring her lunch with you. And if they ask to see what it is simply tell them to go away as it is none of their business what you feed her.

I suggest a healthy amount of bacon! Bacon rules!!!
