Troy pounds and regular pounds are the same.
Its their ounces that differ.
A troy ounce is 1.333333333 regular ounces.

If it was federal land they will lay claim to it.

75 troy ounces is 6.25 troy pounds, try that using 16 and it still isn’t the 5.12 standard mentioned in the article.

There must be more where this guy found this one.
He will be followed to the gold field if he is not careful.

What does 16 have to do with it?
Not relevant.

Not usually. I was just thinking in Butte County foothills and public land isn't a large area.
What is really scary is the number of signals that sound like that I have passed by.

That thing obviously has been forced to the surface by high pressure water, probably in a volcanic vent.
Not much likelihood of finding another one near by.

One assumes, possibly wrongly, that Butte County is in Montana. How odd, that the state was not stated.

Yep the person who found it, is better off to keep the mouth zipped. I hope Uncle Sam doesn’t threaten the person to indulge where he found it. I am surprised to find that people are still using detectors to find “treasures”. I thought it is illegal since with all government grabland growing.

“Troy pounds and regular pounds are the same.”
Wrong.
To: Elsiejay
I’ll eat my hat if you find a nugget over 12 Troy in Montana.
