The Episcopal Church in Connecticut (ECCT) has sold its property at 35 Harris Road, Avon, former home to Christ Episcopal Church, to the Farmington Valley American Muslim Center, Inc. (FVAMC).
The sale, for $1.1 million, was completed on Oct. 21.
The building was vacated after the congregation voted in 2012 to dissolve as a parish and close by the end of that year.
The following spring, Bishop Ian T. Douglas and other ECCT staff hosted a meeting of community leaders and interested residents to discern how the property could best be used as an asset to Gods mission of restoration and reconciliation in greater Avon and beyond.
At the meeting they learned that the local Muslim community needed a place to gather

blue state muzzie scum alert!
If the Episcopal church had not embraced homosexuality, the church might still be open for Christians instead of heathens worshiping a false god.
CT should become a Shariah state in no time!
Hey, we heard that Satan needed a new place to do business — will this help?
Must be one of the nicer Muslim communities. /sarc

...look for this to happen nationwide, as Christian churches wither on the de-populating vine...
...the closing rate of Catholic Churches in Schuylkill County, in Pennsylvania, is mind boggling...
Isn’t that special. Liberal Christians dissolving their church and giving the property to a Satanic death cult.
Drip drip drip..........New Englandistan.
Pretty much every Episcopal Church in the land will be available in the next 10 years.

...homocentricity has nothing whatsoever to do with the closings of Catholic churches all across the oountry...lower birth rates, and denominational indifference, which leads to the casual and clubby worship experience seen at mega churches, doomed them...
I didn’t say anything about the Catholic church, I said it of the Episcopal church.
Well, those Episcopals got 1.1 million. Besides gayness, it’s money that makes their world go round!
Yes, the death spiral of the Episcopal Church can pretty much be attributed to the fascist way in which the Church leadership wrenched it Leftward over the last few decades.
Exhibit A being how they dealt with the Gene Robinson situation. Basically told all Episcopalians to either shut up and accept it (and the other Left social stuff they were pushing), or take a walk.
And a lot of people did.
Here in SW Pennsylvania in the Mon Valley Catholic churches and schools are closing.
Avon is the wealthiest town in the area. Interested to see what types of Muslims this will serve.
Our church has a clause that any property has to be sold to a Christian organization. We just merged with another church having financial problems because they didn’t want to sell their property. My church could handle their fianacial problems, and both churches want to keep the property in christian hands.
BD, do you have any special insight into how this came about?
As a former Episcopalian, I believe the ECUSA was apostate long before any formal acceptance of homosexuality. It was a cold, impersonal church that was devoid of the Holy Spirit regardless of the parish. What is left of the ECUSA and PCUSA will fight it out to see which will become the official state church like in China. Then, the bishops and priests can do the work they really desire - oppressing and hunting down real Christians just as Saul did before his Damascus road conversion.
