large amounts of food are going straight to the trash and school districts are dropping out of the federal lunch program at a cost of foregoing federal funding.

So... does this mean the law affects only federally-subsidized meals? And now kids don't like those meals, so the schools are pulling out of federal lunch programs?

Maybe we all should be supporting the "Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act." ;-)
