New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio condemned the treatment of a symptom-free nurse quarantined in New Jersey after she returned from caring for Ebola patients in West Africa, saying, What happened to her was inappropriate..
De Blasios remarks came during a news conference at New York Citys Bellevue Hospital, where a doctor infected with the deadly virus remained in serious but stable condition Sunday, showing slight improvement. Dr. Craig Spencer had recently returned from a stint with Doctors Without Borders in West Africa, where he treated Ebola patients. Spencer tested positive for Ebola on Thursday.
The mayor spoke during a time of heightened anxiety both in the nations largest city and in the governors offices of New York, New Jersey and Illinois, with the states ordering medical personnel returning from West Africa to be preemptively quarantined for 21 days -- the longest incubation period known for Ebola.
Even as De Blasio called for unity among local, state and federal officials, he pushed back against treatment of the quarantined nurse, Kaci Hickox, who had returned to New Jersey after treating Ebola patients in Sierra Leone.
Hickox took to CNN and to the pages of the Dallas Morning News to say she'd been brusquely interrogated in Newark upon landing. She has tested negative for the virus -- though it wouldn't necessarily be detectable this early -- and is being held in an isolation tent in University Hospital in Newark.
This hero, coming back from the front, doing the right thing, was treated with disrespect, was treated as if she has done something wrong, which she hasnt, De Blasio said.

I had my doubts (and there is still no quarantine for Hot Zone doctors and nurses arriving at Dulles) but if de Blasio doesn’t like it, it’s most likely an excellent idea.
No one in NY has been quarantined yet. Can’t gripe about Cuomo, yet.
I guess he doesn’t care about the 1000s of people treated poorly by TSA every day. They aren’t “heroes.”
I wish they had a thumbs up sign here....
No, her attitude is inappropriate.
Invite her to your house Bill.
Right now, ebola is just a word.
People need some visual education.
Someone should make a video of a patient with ebola from the day they’re diagnosed positive to their dying day.
The mayor’s name is Wilhelm. I wasn’t talking to you.
So Cuomo decided to throw Christie under the bus. It didn’t take long, did it?
FYI, the nurse that NJ quarantined had indicated that she was planning on going to NYC, if I recall correctly.
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
Note to self: Add another reason to not visit New York, until the grown ups are back in charge. Looks like I’ll never make the trip!
thieir purposeful ignorance may or may not be based on evil intent..but it most certainly could lead to an evil outcome.
God Bless America
The big dope has our backs
Bill Jong Un DeBlasio can shaddup!
Bloomers has his panties in a wad...again.
Excellent idea.
de Blasio would put all us “Conservative” types in Reeducation Camps if he could get away with it.
No H8! Fight Ebolaphobia!
What the inability of 150 million people to see how evil Obola, Pelosi, and other baby killers are shows is that 150 million people (or more) are spiritually and intellectually dead. I have many, many acquaintances who are NICE people—but they are pro-abortion. And they can’t see the evil in Obola, Pelosi, or any of the other baby-murdering monsters in public office.
They are spiritually dead. Just dead.
Yes, it’s so sad and disgusting at the same time.
