Army to quarantine all soldiers serving in Ebola-ravaged countries

Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ray Odierno issued a directive late Monday that all soldiers assisting in the Pentagon’s Ebola support mission in West Africa must be quarantined for three weeks before redeploying elsewhere.

The decision to isolate Army soldiers does not mean all military personnel deployed to the region will also have to be monitored as closely. The Pentagon is examining what level of monitoring is necessary from returning soldiers, Warren said.

The two paragraphs I posted contradict each other.

Wonder what the real policy will be?

And if it’s different than what non enlisted go through, why ?

The army at least is taking precautions that they will learn from. They will gain enough experience to be able to make better decisions after the idiots in the democrat party allow plague to infect our entire nation. Take comfort in the fact that an army tribunal will be a harsh affair when the democrats are tried for treason...

I’m sure this has nothing to do with the fact that Spain, Germany and Italy have been meeting their planes in full hazmat suits and have quarantined the general. LOL

But we let little princess Debbie Wasserman Shultz look-alike avoid quarantine because she was outraged.

Bring out your dead! The Dark Man cometh! Bring out your dead! The Dark Man cometh! Bring out your......

(hat tip to: fivecatsandadog!)

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

This just shows how scattered & incompetent Obama & admin are with handling Ebola, quarantine military HE SENT there, but not the health care workers. Either that or shows once again his dislike & lack of respect for our military. Or both.

Seems our military cares more about citizens than the CDC... thank God there’s one group that cares.

Doesn’t matter to the virus, but it does matter to the military.

Soldiers can deal with this, what I don’t understand is what the hell they are doing there in the first place.

“stays in semen up to 42 days”

is this factoid meant to discourage necrophiliacs?

Read a report yesterday that he intent is to use barracks at Vicenza Italy for soldier quarantine. This is a small kaserne (home of the 173rd Airborne) that sits in the middle of town and just a short train ride away from Venice.

No group of people on earth are as risk averse as the military. If a nearby star, a hundred light years away, went super nova, some military commander, somewhere, would get asked what he did to prevent or mitigate it! For the military there are no accidents, surprises or excuses. Everything is somebody's fault.

At every link in the chain of command there will be a great degree of anal retentiveness to ensure that the enemy (Ebola) gains no foothold on that soldier's, sailor's, marine's, or airman's watch. If everyone who even looks at West Africa on a map has to cool his heels for 63 days, that's what's going to happen no matter how inconvenient or expensive.
