Author: Fracking Reaffirms American Exceptionalism

The energy boom unleashed by hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling couldn’t have happened anywhere but America, says author and journalist Gregory Zuckerman.

Zuckerman say America’s entrepreneurial spirit, knowledge and property rights make fracking a uniquely American story.

“This reaffirms the concept of American exceptionalism,” Zuckerman told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “We’ve got advantages the rest of the world doesn’t have and it’s going to lead to America’s economic dominance for the next few years.”

Zuckerman’s new book “The Frackers” is the story of how a few desperate entrepreneurs and wild cat drillers risked everything to extract oil and natural gas from once unreachable U.S. shale formations. They did what major oil companies were unwilling to do and started an American energy revolution in the process.

These drillers did more than that just change America, they changed the world. America is on pace to become the world’s largest oil and natural gas producer, despite heavy opposition left-wing environmentalists and politicians.

“The war against fracking has been lost,” Zuckerman said. “American entrepreneurs and wildcatters continue to plow ahead and the rest of the world admires them and wants to emulate them.”(continued)

imho fracking is only the first round of some huge energy revolutions just over the horizon.

Hi 2ndDivisionVet, I hope you are well. Thank you for posting this article.

Several months ago Maria Bartiromo (when her new show launched on Fox Business) interviewed Mario Gabelli. I’ve always liked listening to Gabelli’s take on the markets and the economy. MB, in looking at MG’s portfolio expressed surprise that he had no technology companies. Gabelli disagreed. MB said there was no Apple, or Facebook, or Google. MG said there was plenty of technology in his portfolio but that MB was not looking in the right place.

Gabelli then said that the two greatest inventions of the 21st Century (think about the strength of that declaration only 14 years into the Century) were horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing. His technology companies were BP, ExxonMobile, Chesapeake, Devon, and other exploration and production companies. Wow!

Gabelli’s statement caused me to dive deeper into the subject of fracking. The book “Frackers” is an excellent read about the science and history of fracking. It has inspired me to venture into the area.

I think Gabelli and Zuckerman are correct. Fracking (and horizontal drilling) are yet more examples of American Exceptionalism.

Isn't it amazing that until the fracking boom with natural gas, the lefty loons were all in favor of the "clean fuel", natural gas, but now that it is relatively inexpensive, and readily available, it has become dirty and dangerous.

Capitalism at its finest, everyone benefits.
