I didn't know about the Vitter-Gov-2016 angle ...

Accordingly, a last-minute Col. Maness feint (endorsement, drop-out) would psychologically "break-the-back" of the Landrieu campaign (and LA Democrats).

When Louisiana voters see that 65-perecent of their fellows are actually "conservative", they'd feel less embarrassed.

Col. Maness would also show that "it's NOT about him" ... and retire from the 2014 election with genuine HONOR.

That would earn him a 2016 Senate victory, perhaps even with (what's his name's endorsement).

Unless of course, the GOPe has reserved the 2016 Senate seat for Jindal ...

"Hi voters. I managed to unglue my lips from Obama's
*** to be here. That's why my mouth looks so funny."

========================================================

Voters are very forgiving---but it's almost impossible to forgive a candidate who fails to recognize the impact of his/her words.

In the Chuck Todd interview Landrieu trashed Louisianans---dismissing them as nothing more than hapless "conservatives." Landrieu added: “It has not always been a good place for women, to be able to present ourselves as the leaders we are. It’s more of a conservative place. So we’ve had to work a little bit harder on that”.......meaning she had to dupe a lot of good people to get herself elected.

Odd isn't it----when Landrieu was elected and reelected multiple times---there was no racism or sexism in Louisiana. Now that she appears to be losing Landrieu suddenly discovers sexism and racism in every corner of Louisiana.

Another FReeper likened Landrieu's goofball rhetoric to California candidate---then-incumbent Gov Pat Brown---- inexplicably telling a Black audience, "Remember, an actor shot Lincoln."

Brown's opponent was Ronald Reagan who went on to win the governership by a million votes.

=========================================

CONCLUSION It's hard to say if Landrieu's desperate and deplorable tactics---vilifying and slandering her own voters--- will be enough to win her another unexpected victory in Louisiana....but she knows every trick in the book.

In 2002, Landrieu was forced into a run-off. She was under-funded and labeled the underdog. So she and her Democrat operatives mined every ghetto, housing project, crack house, ho house and Nursing Home in New Orleans for votes.....she won by a hair.

In 2015, when Vitter wins the governor’s race, he will appoint his replacement. Not sure who, but it won’t be Jindal. Maybe John Kennedy.

Anyway, whoever the Dem’s put up in 2016, they’ll be running against an incumbent.
