Hillary Clinton recalls Mary Landrieu's leadership post-Katrina at New Orleans rally

Former Sec. of State Hillary Clinton said she learned all she needed to know about Sen. Mary Landrieu by watching her work to get funding for New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

Clinton recalled she and Landrieu's experience in the U.S. Senate together during a get-out-the-vote rally at the Sugar Mill in New Orleans on Saturday. She touted Landrieu's leadership and how she prioritized Louisiana's women and families while urging the crowd to vote Tuesday.

Clinton and Landrieu served in the Senate together from 2001-2009. Clinton said her greatest memories of Landrieu came in the aftermath of Katrina. She remembered Landrieu on the Senate floor demanding the federal government come to New Orleans' aid, a moment Clinton likened to her own experience representing New York following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Clinton also criticized Landrieu's main Republican challenger, U.S. Rep. Bill Cassidy, for his vote against the Violence Against Women Act.

"I cannot begin to understand how someone can vote against a law protecting women from domestic abuse, but Mary's opponent has done just that," Clinton said.

Cassidy has said he voted against the bill because it went too far. He voted in favor of a GOP alternative bill that removed language related to gender identity and sexual identification, among other provisions.

Clinton is widely expected to run for president in 2016. Though she didn't call him by name, Clinton criticized a potential opponent, Gov. Bobby Jindal, for the steep cuts in higher education in Louisiana.

I thought it was the dip governor of LA that blocked the National Guard from going in....I may be wrong as here in Mobile we were dealing with our own Katrina problems and not really paying attention to what was going on over there.

I remember when Ray Nagin fled New Orleans and when Governor Blanco came on television and cried and cried and cried. And I watched the live feed of Blanco’s National Guard dropping food and then fleeing before the mobs got there. And the live feeds of all the looting. Yes, oh wait, Mary was no where to be found. Another lie by Hillary

“Violence Against Women Act’’. Liberals love to make redundant laws or laws for crimes that don’t exist and then use it for political leverage against opponents. This is one of the number of reasons why I hate liberalism.

Actually Monica’s boyfriend’s wife doesn’t look too bad (relatively speaking) The liposuction, botox and detox all seem to be working out.

The focus should be on Mary’s failure to lead and her theft of resources before Katrina

1. NO STATE or CITY should “NEED” a member of Congress to plead for funds to rebuild after such an event as Katrina. IF they do need to do so, SHAME on the FEDS for not stepping up to the plate from the first breach of levees.

2. Giving such kudos to any Congressman is +an over-reaction. That is their job. They are to represent their state & make sure that events such as Sandy or Katrina get the Federal help needed.

3. Louisiana was given funds for years before the hurricane hit & breached the levees. WHERE did that $$$$$$ go? No satisfactory answer has ever been given.

4. Landrieu should have requested the resignation of Ray Nagin for his abysmal reactions to the trouble New Orleans was in. Letting those school buses sit idle & go under water & get trashed instead of using them to evacuate citizens can never be excused. How many tax dollars were lost because those buses were trashed with water damage? Nagin can NEVER serve enough years in jail for me. He should die there. A high school sophomore would have used those buses & saved them from destruction.

Landrieu has had enough years to screw up things for Louisiana voters. She needs permanent retirement.

What an act.

The big hugs, the wide smiles....Hillary does deserve something ...some sort of award for phoniness for her stage act.

While she’s there, ask hillary about her nightmarish encounter with Bosnian snipers.

“Clinton criticized a potential opponent, Gov. Bobby Jindal, for the steep cuts in higher education in Louisiana.”

Jindal has done a lot for LA education in spite of the Federal gov’t, backed by labor unions, fighting him every inch of the way.

Again the Bush administration didn’t stick up for themselves in that situation. Didn’t they even pass a law allowing uninvited Federal intervention into the States in the aftermath of Katrina? It was probably all planned by the Democrats.

You are correct, Blanco stopped the NG from arriving. I am in LA. I stayed and went through Katrina. Governor Blanco is another evil RAT. She threw roadblocks in front of Bush.

Her and her husband are as corrupt as any RATS. Actually her husband is more evil and more corrupt than she. He is the evil brain, she is just an idiot.

The corrupt Blancos made sure only Acadaian ambulances were used to ferry out sick and injured in the aftermath of Katrina.(at great expense to taxpayers)

It just happens that Acadian ambulance is majority owned by one of her husbands relatives.

“A Clinton visit usually finishes him/her off.”

We are SO praying that’s TRUE for Wisconsin! ‘Slick’ was here last week pimping Mary Burke for Governor.

She. Is. Worthless.

By getting post-Katrina funding, I presume Mrs. Willie means robbing the U.S. treasury.

I don't remember the exact amount, but I remember someone on Fox news said it was enough (that Landrieu requested) to make every Katrina victim an instant millionaire.
