I used to joke "getting hit by a huge piece of 50-year-old satellite falling back to earth" would be a fast and painless way to die.

Then one contemplates unfinished business, family, friends, people with whom they must speak, and things that others might wish to share with you.

It is those times that I think having a more predictable slide into final days (hopefully minimal pain) is the better situation far in the future.
