A 65-year-old man who was fatally injured while trick-or-treating with his 4-year-old son when they were struck by a vehicle in Irvine was a longtime immigration attorney, according to his website and posts on Facebook.
John Roger Alcorn was pronounced dead at 8:36 p.m. Friday at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, according to the county coroner’s office.
The accident happened at 7:10 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of West Yale Loop, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi said.
Alcorn’s son was critically injured in the incident. Authorities had no update on the boy’s condition Monday morning, but he was last listed as critical but stable, Irvine police said.
Alcorn was admitted to the California Bar in 1980 and practiced immigration and nationality law in Irvine, according to the State Bar of California.
Alcorn’s adult daughter, Sophie Alcorn, is also an attorney, working for his law firm, according to the website.
The female driver of the vehicle, a Mazda 3, stopped at the scene and was not initially charged, but the investigation continues, Irvine police spokeswoman Farrah Emami said.
I worked with a guy whose Dad was 70 when he was born! He didn’t grow up with a lot of camping trips, roughhousing with Dad or simple games of catch or football. Must be weird having grandpa for Dad.

A man never stops producing sperm, so, of course it is possible, even for a man much older. The only odd thing about this is that his wife must be a good deal younger — by about 20 years — if she is the biological mother.
So when is your 12th birthday?
“My great grandfather was 60 when he fathered my grandfather.”
And no matter how young you, yourself, are, that was a long time ago.
This is a very sad story. It was not even that late when they were out.
I hope the little boy recovers from his injuries.
Eggs get old, but I do believe that sperm is made fresh as needed.

The owner of my company is 85 years old and has an eight year old son. One of his grandsons is 28 years old.
He is well known in southern CA business circles.

The street where the accident happened is notorious for cars using an alternate getting home to south Orange County. Even though it’s in a heavily populated residential area the speed limits are between 35-50 mph on the main roads.
She was born in Thailand, before the embassy would give her a passport they required a DNA test to prove I am the father.
The upside is that now she has proof of exactly who are her parents.
True, but the quality of that old man’s fresh sperm can be problematic even if the mother is a healthy young thing.
