“I’m glad it gave us the MN House though.”

last night, I was intently watching the Minnesota Secretary of State’s website for this state House races.

In the metro area, the GOP was able to flip only one seat from Dem to GOP. We lost all the rest - including a couple of open seats where it was thought the GOP candidate had a chance. Almost all of our losses in the metro area were close ones.

It was in the rural areas where the GOP really started to knock off Dem incumbents - especially southern, western and north central Minnesota.

Truth be told, a number of these rural Dem incumbents were voting like metro area liberals and it came back to bite a number of them in the butt.

Not surprisingly, many of these pick-ups where in areas where Jeff Johnson and Mike McFadden were doing pretty well. I’d need to examine the numbers in more detail - but I wonder if there was a small coat-tail effect on some of these races?

That stinks.

But great news from rural MN. I wish Peterson was joining his state legislative counterparts. And Nolan. And whathisname, Walz.
