Report from Kansas...a state that some believe will dictate who controls the senate:
Relatively long line at my fairly red polling station. Not the longest I’ve ever seen...but this is a mid-term. I took that as a positive sign.
Also, we have voter ID...and it actually helps speed up the process. No longer does a volunteer have to ask you how to spell your name, and flip through a ledger book. The scanner reads a code on my license, and I sign an electronic pad - very quick. Just another reason to use voter ID.
I think the Orman candidacy has been such a dishonest stunt, that it is driving turnout against him...which will also help Brownback. in his race. We’ll see.
I voted at 6:30 and it was pretty dead. I’m working the polls at noon so I’ll be able to see the lunch crowd.
Good, concise report. Thx
My understanding is that Orman has no ground game, meaning that the GOP machine should be able to drag Roberts across the finish line...
How’s the weather? Forecasted weather?
It is precisely the opposite here in CA. You would not even know there is a big election today. There has been virtually no campaigning among the politicians, not even Gov. Jerry Brown who has millions of dollars in the bank. I live in the heavily populated L.A. area. I am on the freeways every day. You see no yard signs. No bumper stickers, no campaign offices, few signs on utility poles and fences, no phone banks, no precinct walkers no nothing, no sign of ground game at all, and, get this, hardly and political mail or slate mailers at all which I usually get a ton of considering that I am a high propensity voter. I’m telling you it’s dead here. Completely dead. Outside of heavy advertising on the radio for a few hotly contested ballot propositions, you would not know that there is an election going on today. Since this is deep blue CA, perhaps that is a good thing.
