You had no way of knowing at the time but as of 11 PM it became 52-46-2 and counting. If the GOP sweeps Virginia, Alaska and the Louisiana run-off, the numbers become 55-43-2. Plugs will be retiring in two years---two more years of his irrelevancy and out. He won't be missed.

Now, we get to see whether it was worth it. Will McConnell continue as GOP Leader? Will he actually fight Obozo or patiently explain that he won't, errrr, can't do ANYTHING other than corporate tax cuts and trust fund tax cuts unless the GOP elects continued majorities in both houses of Congress and a suitably spaghetti-spined POTUS.

We shall see what we shall see.
